LOVE IT! There was a house in my neighborhood that had a giant skeleton for Halloween, and then they put a Santa hat on it for Christmas. I was hoping they would continue with the themed holiday adornments, but alas, no luck. Where is this one located?

It’s in Fairfax on Laurel Street which is between Burke Station Road and Whitaker Road (Road next to Woodson HS) This was a small display for them. I almost missed it because I am used to there being a large assortment of skeletons decorated for the occasion.

Not the best angle because the mall was closed, but here’s a skeleton in a lab coat.

HT to katie for letting me know that Kiehl’s locations have these.

2/16/21 – Crown or Mask (with eyeholes)

Mardi Gras, aka Fat Tuesday, is celebrated the day before Ash Wednesday. Fun fact: if you want to ride on a Mardi Gras float you must wear a mask. In fact, it is actually illegal to ride one without one!

On your ride, find a crown (that sits on top of your head) or a mask (that has eyeholes). If you find the word, it’ll be 1 point. If you find a likeness, that’ll be 2 points total.

    Happy hunting!

Single and/or tired of the commercialism/smoochiness of Valentines Day? Then St. Skeletor‘s Day, celebrated on February 15 since 1998, was made for you! Skeletor – He Man’s archenemy – is the inspiration for the day, and it’s all about anti-love and not doing anything special for anyone.

On your ride, scramble the letters of “St Skeletor’s Day” to come up with a real word that has 5 or more letters, and find that word out in the wild for one point. The alternative for two points is to find a human skeleton likeness, but it has to be more than half of the body including the skull (i.e., not just the skull or a just a hand)

    Happy hunting!

    2/14/21 – Heart

Valentine’s Day has dark origins with vestiges of both Christian and ancient Roman tradition, such as women being gently slapped with bloody goat hides by drunk naked men. (WHAT?!?!)

Anyways, on your ride, find a heart – either the shape or the word. And you might want to avoid any tipsy naked dudes with goat hides — unless that’s your kink ;)

    Happy hunting!

    Heart 2/14/21

Although I won’t get credit for it, I still wanted to post it since I went out and hunted for it on Valentine’s Day.

    2/15/21 – St Skeletor’s Day – skeleton or subanagram

I missed my 10th grade biology classroom on today’s quest. My teacher had a skeleton we called “flaco.” (She also had a fish we called “Notoque” because that’s what the sign on the fish tank said. For non Spanish speakers, “No toque” means “don’t touch.” “Flaco” means “skinny.”)

In the absence of Flaco I found a subanagram on my ride today – SOLAR.

    2/15/21 / St Skeletors Day

Finding no skeletons, I went searching for oysters. But the fish market I went to didn’t have any (right? A fish market without oysters???). So Street it is!

That’s what the sign on the rock said, “Tory’s” being the sub anagram. It wasn’t that clear in person because of snow, and became less clear in the photo shrunk for posting, but it was the only one I found! :) I don’t know who Tory is, but her part of the mountain we were passing through was beautiful!

I’m double-dipping here on the MF DOOM mural. Here’s the masked supervillain, but in daylight this time around.

    Thanks!
Though I’m not the prize dude (so it isn’t important that I be able to find your word in your picture) it bothered me that I couldn’t figure it out! I can sorta see the writing on the stone now that you’ve walked me through it. [emoji16] My eyesight is not the best. [emoji1744]

I thought this would have been harder than it was! I asked my daughter to pick the best one…
