2/13/2021 — Diner. Scavenger-hunting and quaxing at Bob and Edith’s Diner in Crystal City, where I had the pleasure of running into Boomer2U and HokieBeth, who were doing the same thing!

Just like komorebi , HokieBeth and I rolled up to Bob &Edith’s Diner at exactly the same time! We ate veggie omelettes on the outdoor patio which we had to ourselves for some #quaxapalooza smallbiz points, but alas, froze our fingers and toes so had to cut short our planned Decasleaze #publicarfinder ride in order to thaw out at the 7-Eleven down the street.Sent from Boomer_Cycles via my iPhone using Tapatalk

Went for a ride first thing this morning to get the picture before the precip started. I guess I wasn’t fully awake since I forgot the part about getting my bike in the picture. Oh, well – I’m not going to ride back and re-take the picture now.
Metro 29 has the feel of a New York diner, unlike Bob & Edith’s, which has more of a Southern diner feel. Unfortunately, Metro 29 has been completely closed due to COVID.

I really should have just taken a diner photo and moved on, since the weather moved in fastest than I expected. Instead, as typical, I used my precious cycling time to make a diner tour (among other things) of the brief morning. I did have to cut the tour short after 8 diners, as I saw the freezing rain quickly approaching on the radar.
Got caught 30min out, and made it home with nothing worse than ice covered bike and clothesSilver Diner gets the photo for here today. Nice colors and lighting, plus Silver Diner contributed to a clock photo a few days ago as well!

Diners in Spain look more like western out door saloons!

On your ride, find a diner – preferably one you like – take a snapshot of it and post it here in the forum. For an extra bonus point, have both the word “Diner” and at least part of your bike in it.Here’s the Broad Street Diner, which is open 24/7. The bike that happens to be in the shot is also my bike, just in case you were wondering. I’ve never eaten here, maybe never will.
I figured I’d patronize the Tasty instead (see photos on Strava) and get my quax in, but unfortunately they don’t seem to have the word diner anywhere on their storefront. If you’re in the DC area, I heartily recommend Fare Well.

On February 13, 1960, the first of the Nashville Sit-ins occurred to non-violently protest segregation in the South. It eventually lead to six downtown stores opening their lunch counters to black customers for the first time.

Please be careful out there if it gets slippery!
Happy hunting!

In Yorkville the Midnight Express Diner at 2nd Ave and E 89th St. There were just too many to choose from, but I didn’t stop to eat even though inside dining became available in NYC yesterday.

Good ole Bob & Edith’s – the original on Columbia Pike. I used to live right behind it, so it was one of my favorite places to go for breakfast! (& I still haven’t been to any of their other locations!)

Unlike all you other wimps, I waited until after noon to go out and burnish my Rule 9 bona fides.

ParticipantToday is total fail for me, the photo as well as riding at all. By 8am, I couldn’t even walk out on my driveway – which would have been necessary to get to the street for even a sleeze mile, much less riding to the local diner for a photo. So instead, I did this.

Now if only I could get to my local bike shop to hand off the cookies to young people who burn calories at a much higher rate than I do!
