Directional sign outside the Postal Square Building in DC. Today marks 11 months since I’ve been inside (after 18.5 years of being there most workdays…)

Nope! And I still work for the same employer…we’ve just all been on maximum telework since mid-March so I’ve been working from the dining room/elementary school classroom since then

Oh Nadine, you make me laugh. Mogen David is a sweet wine of questionable quality. Magen David is the Star of David (Shield of David).
And I’m not of the six pointed star persuasion, but I might have done a bit of googling plus memories of cheap college wine.

Participant2/10/2021 5 or 6 point Star ⭐
While I’m searching through the artwork on the walls of the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton hoping to find a star (I was unsuccessful) my ride partner called me over to the map of the Workhouse saying that there is always a star letting you know where you are located on maps. While it made perfect sense, I would never have thought about looking for a map. 🗺️

“Mogan” and “Magen” are transliterations of the same word, מָגֵן. They’re both approximations of a word written in a different alphabet. It’s not that “mogen” means “cheap wine” while “magen” translates to “star”.

I never realized stars were such a commonly-used shape in retail logos and signage until today when my ride took me past PG Plaza Mall.

[emoji50] so what DO they mean? I mean – what is it that encompasses both “cheap wine” and “star”? Is it translateable?
That’s very cool btw.

On February 10, 2017, Adam Levine – frontman of Maroon 5 – received the 2601st star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. (I didn’t realize there were so many?!)
On your ride, find a star, as long as it’s not on an American flag. On this hunt, we don’t want the word, we want the shape, but lets limit it to ones with 5 or 6 points only.
Happy hunting!

I was hoping for something more fun but here it is, a star on a shed.

These stars represent Reston’s villages. Included the double bikes for cuteness.

I didn’t mean they translate directly – just that the little “o” vs. “a” creates a whole different concept. Sort of the very profoundly spiritual vs. the definitely not.
When I googled “Magen David” it referred to the magen meaning shield.
At any rate, I definitely defer to your expertise on the transliteration. I only know about the cheap wine. Not recently, but back in the day.
What a fun hunt today. And of course, I now see bubbles, balloons, lightning, etc. wherever I ride! So from tomorrow on, stars will be on that list.

Participant2/10/21 – Stars
I figured this day would keep my eyes busy spotting stars, and I was right. My work was done nearly as soon as it started, as I saw the red star Macys logo in Ballston. It never really stopped as I found stars of all varieties.
For sharing here, I’m going with the surprise Christmas lights display still standing….with stars atop the string of lights.

At a local Greek place in RockvilleHah! That was my first “star” picture of the day, but I found a better one in Veterans Park, so I didn’t post it here.

2/10/21 – Star – at Columbia Gardens Cemetery in Arlington. I have found several Daily Photos here at the cemetery. I found this headstone very interesting because it shared between two religions, Jewish and Christian. Makes me wonder about the backstory.
