I don’t want to keep amending the rules and turning people off to playing.
For the record, so far this game is way ahead of Calvinball in the number of rule changes

Italian restaurantIn front of Osteria da Nino in Shiraz-lington. I’ve never been, but they serve spaghetti, and don’t have “zz” or “garden” in the name or signage. Possibly the only Italian restaurant in South Arlington (outside of Crystal City) to meet those requirements.

1/4/21 – In honor of National Spaghetti Day, take a pic of an Italian restaurant, preferably one you like and/or serves spaghetti. Caveat is that it can’t have “zz” or “Garden” in the name or the sign. Happy hunting!
Also, starting on 1/4 going forward, I’m going to be a hardarse, so please read and follow the rules in the original post. Thanks again for playing

Growing up in the outer boroughs of New York City, I took it for granted that within walking distance of everyone’s house there was at least one family-run Italian restaurant that served red sauce Southern Italian home cooking. I was shocked and dismayed when I moved to Northern Virginia and found that Italian restaurants were scarce and generally pretty bad. Fortunately, the local restaurant scene has improved over the years. Thompson Italian is a little more upscale in its menu than my family’s favorite (Valenti’s on Foster Avenue in Brooklyn) was, and their food is quite good – an improvement over the Italian restaurant that previously occupied the same location, which wasn’t bad either.

Steve O, I did not missed the deadline because they did not go into effect until 1/4/2021. He gave us until the 1/4/2021 to figure out how to participate in this pointless game, so since I get it in on the 4th, I met the deadline.

My sympathies! Being in Bethesda, I’m at a disadvantage in many of the contests. (I’m not biking all the way to Arlington just to start the Arlington loops, for example.) But Bethesda has plenty of restaurants of every description.

Correct. You posted at 12:01 on the 4th, one minute after the rule went into effect. And also 1 minute after elf day expired. But drevil is a pushover softie, so I’m sure he’ll issue a waiver.

ParticipantIn honor of the day, were you aware that a rare painted bunting was spotted in the C&O Canal Park this past weekend? Very cool. I don’t think we’ll be so lucky in our search, but we’ll try to find something entertaining.

Is it true that the early bird (of paradise) gets the worm?
(Real birds are hard to find in the dark.)
