Well, at least the folks in Kansas City shouldn’t have any problem posting their daily miles online in a timely fashion:

    Morning box scores (and bump)

We have 1,147 trips to go!

As of a couple minutes ago:

The July Challenge has logged 13,372 trips

Splitting the miles in excess of the WABA goal of 10,000 puts LA at 10,000 as well. We ride for Kansas City (Team BBQ?).

To get KC to the line, 1,147 more trips are needed from riders across the nation.

Yesterday, 442 trips were logged. Based on that we should complete all three challenges sometime Sunday night! Keep logging the trips!

    We just hit 13,520 trips!

That means just 999 trips logged by DC area and other cyclists are needed over the next four days to fully fund the Clif 2 mile challenge for BikeWalkKC, as well as those for WABA and LACBC.

If everyone can keep logging their trips over the weekend and we can get up to 14,519 trips logged, we will have accomplished something really great for cycling this month!

We might even be able to do it with a day to spare.

We have 615 trips to go!

As of a couple minutes ago:

The July Challenge has logged 13,904 trips

Yesterday, 244 trips were logged. If we get that today, we will likely complete all three challenges with the evening logging on Monday night! That will only happen if we keep logging our trips! Today looks like a good day for riding.

I’ve really gotten hooked on this challenge, and not just for this month.

I love that Clif is promoting the use of bicycles as real transportation and that simply logging my everyday trips is helping to send much needed money to organizations all across the country that are working to help improve conditions for bicyclists in their areas, especially in view of the likely consequences of the latest U.S. transportation bill.

Plus, and maybe best of all, it’s getting me out on my bike just a little more often. :)

Now 161 to go. We’re cutting it close but we should reach the goal. Is this an example of one version of Parkinson’s Law? Since we have until the end of the month, the overall task isn’t reached until the end of the month? And not before then? LOL. I think some people were cramming for this “exam” as if they were still in school.

No, because they/we had to increase the original goal by about 45% in order to contain us.

I would have considered going crazy with the CaBi trips today but I’m taking a “rest day” — sort of. I did a short ride on CaBi, and I’ll probably take a couple more short trips soon. During the CaBi Winter Weather Warrior contest last year, I racked up a couple dozen short trips on some days. (All within the rules too.)

I won’t be doing that today. I did some hard workouts last week and over the weekend. My legs need a breather today.

Megabeth was in the lead, with teammate MB just behind, right on her wheel. Then DaveK sprinted up. But wait, here comes MB, giving it his all! It’s close, but it looks like he got it, and MB finishes in first place!
