ParticipantJuly riders for the Clif bar 2 Mile Challenge just surpassed the 8891 trips ridden in June!
Trips today by Bikesnick, RonWalf, Txgoonie, Megabeth, Rsewell19 and Shawn of the Dread took us beyond the number of trips for LA County.
WABA is also being helped by riders in other cities. Thanks to everyone! Let’s get to 10,000 in the next day or so and kill this thing! Then in later months we can help riders in other areas, like some of them helped us this time.

ParticipantWe slowed down the pace over the last few days, but we’ll still reach 10,000 with almost two weeks to spare.

ParticipantVery cool news!
The Clif Challenge folks, seeing that we are so close to our $10K for WABA, have agreed to a fantastic idea suggested by Shane Farthing, Exec. Dir. of WABA, that all trips logged for this month after we fully meet our challenge be used to help LA County Bicycle Coalition and KC BikeWalk meet theirs! This was announced on the blog for the challenge website.
Kansas City is just starting to get a bikeshare system and a bike network started, and I know this will mean a lot to them. I’m sure our cyclist friends in car-centered L.A. will appreciate it too.

Hmmm… I feel I’ve given enough to LA over the years and it has yet to return the favor.

ParticipantI corrected my post. I meant to say the LA County Bicycle Coalition. No obligations here. I was happy about it, having been to both of those places recently.

ParticipantShoot, I guess that means I have to keep logging my rides after we hit 10,000. Good for Clif, though. I might have to go buy a bar or two.

CLIF is legitimately very cool- I had some cause to spend time in their corporate offices in Berkley a few years ago. Let’s just say that they are bike friendly with cash incentives for riding, a bike garage nearly 100m long and a wellness program that includes on-site personal trainers that will walk by your desk and “suggest” that you cancel that 3pm meeting and go for a ride/workout. Turnover is virtually 0 and everyone looks happy in that smug, “I work for a lifestyle company” sort of way. Sigh…

This is what I imagine life is like at the BikeArlington office…

I’ve seen Tim’s office area, somehow I don’t think it’s as cool as the description of the CLIF workplace.

GuestI finally caught up on this thread and signed up yesterday. I guess I can’t retroactively log my rides for the first half of the month. Oh, well, I will be a good local cyclist for the last 14 days. (I also sent the link to my dad and stepmom, who are in missouri- though not KC- so may be interested as well. Does that make up for my slacking?)

ParticipantToo bad one can’t put a laughing smiley next to “like”. The BikeArlington folks are probably thinking, “in my dreams . . .”

ParticipantWe work in an efficient office, toiling away, trying to come up with the next big thing to get more people out biking and make the roads safer for cyclists.
