BAFS swag has been carefully curated by Komorebi for years. The bright green zipper pulls, ankle bands, buffs and more (yes, more!) are distinctive and awesome to see the wild! I’m sponsoring a pointless prize that will be awarded to the person with the most creative display of BAFS swag. The rules:

    1. One day only – Saturday, March 5! You must take the picture on your ride that day
    2. Ride at least 5 miles
    3. Post your picture on this tread by midnight March 5
    4. Only one picture entry per person, though you’re welcome to include a link to your Strava ride if you have taken more pictures

Don’t have your swag? What are you waiting for??? http://bikearlingtonforum.com/showthread.php?18950-FS2022-ankle-bands-are-here

I was wearing a BAFS ankle band today and had a rider behind me I didn’t know said, “Hi fellow Freezing Saddles rider!” Had a big red beard and we were headed east on M St, NE, he went straight and I turned on to the MBT. No Strava flyby.

I only have one swag (I can find) so I’m suggesting a 3/5 ride. I hope CaseyKane50 can join!

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/38681812 is the route, I’ll be Metro-ing to East Falls Church from Reston. I’m looking for a fuel stop suggestion from the Arlington locals. Bring your Freezing Saddles swag and we’ll poise for a wacky picture. All are welcome not just Triskuits! Starting time is Saturday, 3/5 at 10.

    Suggestions:

    • Northside Social in Clarendon (coffee and foodstuffs) – c. mile 5ish
      • Likely pretty busy on Saturday morning; has outdoor seating you’ll have to fight for
    • Cosi in Rosslyn (not sure about outdoor seating; haven’t been there lately) – c. mile 7ish
      • There’s also a Compass Coffee (and Starbucks ho hum) nearby
    • Mah Ze Dar in Crystal City (expensive coffee and pastries; outdoor seating) – c. mile 9ish
      • Others nearby include Commonwealth Joe, Whole Foods (outdoor seating), The Freshman (more like a sit-down than a quick stop) and more.
    • Best Buns in Shirlington (pastries, coffee,) – c. mile 12ish
      • no outdoor seating at the time you’ll arrive-it’s reserved for Carlyle Grand, but there are some spots to sit outside nearby
      • Peet’s Coffee has some limited outdoor seating
      • Several other establishments in the same block of restaurants, mostly sit-down type places
