Looks like Bridge 24 by Belle Haven is almost ready to open.

The was an electronic sign on the north bound Parkway saying the right lane was to be closed for construction starting tomorrow (I think), 8/14. Does that mean they will start the work to replace the Dyke Marsh/MVT wooden walkway (Bridge 23)?

It was gone by today. badly damaged railing on both sides and one broken deck slat, maybe more. couldn’t tell about damage to the understructure

A few more pictures from FoMVT Twitter: https://twitter.com/MtVernonFriends/status/1690769504454778881?s=20

Will try to get an update on if it needs more extensive repairs than the deck board and railings.

Work should start on Bridge 23 soon. Construction was originally slated to begin in July. There was an issue with a migratory bird nesting underneath the bridge that contributed to a schedule impact.

For TR Bridge users, a Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail volunteer cleared most of the overgrowth tonight.

If you think that’s rad, please help improve the trail by volunteering at mountvernontrail.org/events or by donating at mountvernontrail.org/donate

Now of course African swallows are non-migratory.

Bridge 24 is now open and looks marvelous.

The detour for the Bridge 23 work is currently being constructed. The detour will take riders onto a nicely protected section of the the GW Parkway. Heading south on the MVT the detour will begin with a paved ramp onto the Parkway. Just past Tulane Drive, the detour will join back onto the MVT

Shitshow alert. South bike lane on Eads just south of 15th.

Not sure who thought this was a good idea.

Would *we* have been ticketed for moving those barrels off to the side?

I doubt anybody would have attracted the ire of the police as they don’t seem to notice much related to our roadways
