2/26/25 – award

I thought I shoulda earned an AWARD  today…. I was late to my group ride, so I chased them, following the route on printed paper cues. The group ride is offered to a large group of people, so you never know who’s gonna show up.

But they weren’t riding very fast, so I caught them crossing Wisconsin. There were 5 people. I caught up to the last 2, & I knew who the ride leader was….. so I made a game out of tryna figure out who the other 2 were. And somehow I got them both right 🤩

It was only partly guesswork. I was very pleased cuz I’m losing my eyesight and tryna come up with ways to compensate. I wanna learn how to perceive things other ways besides seeing them, so that I can feel this process as a learning opportunity rather than just a disability.

It’s in that context that I feel like identifying 2 people from behind, who are in my greater cycling community but who I don’t know real well, oughtta earn me an AWARD

And then I actually did get an award! Dmitri at Bikenetic was done with my other bike, so I hustled off to get it before dark. Last time Dmitri worked on my bike it shifted like butter 🤩 so it’s quite a nice prize 🚴‍♀️💕🎊🥳

I thought lodge is a place. Turns out it is also a small house.

In an alternate time line, perhaps I’d be hanging out at this historic, community lodge.
