    2/1/2025 RIVET

I like this rivet photo the best. There are different types of rivets and this is the bolt type found on these old trolley or train tracks

You can see both sides of this type. The bolt on the right and the rivet head on the left

    :

“a short metal pin or bolt for holding together two plates of metal, its headless end being beaten out or pressed down when in place.”

    2/1 – Rivet

The bridge carrying the CCT over the C & O Canal was built in 1885 and was moved to this location in 1909. A rare railroad Whipple truss and skewed Pratt truss bridge, it’s considered to be one of the most significant bridges in the District.

    2/1//2025 – Rivet

I found this rivet at the children’s playground. 🛝 Rivets in fact are used to keep two pieces of wood together but not as often as with metals.

    2/1 rivet

A riveting group of cyclists with rivetingly cool jerseys festooned with the rivets on the bike chain snowflake design propelled forward by the rivets on their own bike chains, riveted on the mission to find the most riveting donuts in the land.

    2/1/25 – RIVET

I went to Bikenetic for a shifter cable replacement again* 😵‍💫🤦🏻‍♀️, and while Charles was working on my shifter I asked owner Jan about RIVETs.

Luckily he’s played Freezing Saddles before, so when he asked what kinda RIVET I needed I could get away with saying  “Whatever kind you wanna pose for a pic with – it’s for the FS photo scavenger hunt.” 😁👍🏼

So here’s Jan at Bikenetic holding a RIVET in his left hand & a Bikenetic magnet in his right.

*Apparently shifter cables snapping is a chronic problem with Shimano 105 shifters – except I think I replaced this one with an ultegra, so I guess those too.

    2/1/25. RIVET

    @karenbikes2gmail-com
, I was surpised to find that bolts have totally replaced rivets for most construction, but they still RIVET signs into place.

2/1 – are these RIVETs or screws?

2/1/25 Rivet (forget to post)…good use of a rivet on these jump-start clamps…but who needed it at a playground?

The distinction is unclear to me since bolts are also mentioned in the definition, but I think they should at least have smooth heads rather than screw slots. Like your photo.
