Participant1/24/2025 CREPE
All this talk of crepes was making me hungry, so I stopped by Bread and Chocolate for a chicken one and a strawberry one.

Participant#scavhunt 1/24 – I did not find a single CREPE dish on the IHOP menu, just fat pancakes and burritos made with tortillas

I didn’t get here before they closed, missing out on a chance for a delicious crêpe or galette (a savory crêpe)

Lakeside Cafe serves Moo Shu Pork – shredded pork and cabbage with bamboo shoots and black mushrooms, and plum sauce, and very thin pancakes. “Pancake” is synonymous with CREPE.

The w&od near my house (in between the Custis intersection and Wilson Blvd) is lined with CREPE MYRTLES. Here’s one. You can see its distinctive mottled bark, and you can see dead flowers at the end of some of the upper branches…..
Though to be honest, I know they’re crepe myrtles because I’ve seen them in bloom in July /August.
Aaaaaand I checked the spelling justincase and confirmed that the plant /tree is spelled either /both “crepe myrtle” and “crape myrtle” 😁

Participant1/24 soon this building with a crepe like top structure may soon be flat as a pancake, er, crepe
I was hoping to find some crepe myrtles in the same shot, but I found those elsewhere on my ride.

Crepe Paper
Photo from Target as it was getting ready to close.
Another adventure in confusion and wonder. The store clerk looked up the crepe paper I was searching for from an online search – all the entries said it was “sold out” unlike my own search that said the Columbia Heights store had it. I should have snapped a photo of her phone’s page. She couldn’t seem to open the entries as I was really interested in what the hell crepe paper actually is. How is it different than tissue paper? Because it’s wrinkly? The paragraph below suggests that tissue paper is different, but then goes on to claim that tissue paper is a type of crepe paper 🤷🏻♂️ so that doesn’t help much. Another definition seems to express that crepe paper is more elastic, wrinkled and malleable. My picture looks wrinkly at least. Maybe streamer-like.
So. In the end they were all out – maybe.
“Is tissue paper and crepe paper the same?
Is crepe paper the same as tissue paper? No, crepe paper and tissue paper are not the same. The term “tissue paper” can include many products made from either crepe or kraft. Products like toilet paper and paper towels are types of lightweight crepe paper that is made using an on-machine dry creping process.“https://ivexsp.com/what-is-crepe-paper/
