One of my favorite LOCAL public art pieces. This is part of “Thoreau’s Ensemble” by Ben Volta in 2019, painted on the entry and exit of the pedestrian underpass beneath Colts Neck Rd in Reston. This is the western side.

3/13 – Hyper local mural of the dogs of Del Ray as each one of these is a painting of a dogs from the local neighborhood that were nominated by their owners along with a $50 donation to raise funds for the local dog rescue shelter. And two of them are named “Boomer”;-)
3/13/24 – My errand today was to pick up a prescription at CVS and they had this rack of LOCAL history books!
3/13 local – The National Arboretum is one of my favorite local places to visit (despite the stress of having to bike across New York Avenue). They have some of DC’s official trees, the Scarlet Oak, but today the more showy flowerers enticed me more.
Here’s a local pollinator visiting a cherry tree. I know some people won’t eat city honey, but the stuff my local friend makes is pretty good. These cherry trees are bred for their flowers, not their fruit, but some will produce edible cherries, which in 2006 became DC’s official fruit.
