    Thanks to everyone who responded on my question about the condition of the MVT and 4MR. I managed to make it from Bethesda to Shirlington and back today, and the trails weren’t in bad shape. The worst part was when I decided to shave a little off the distance by going directly from the Key Bridge to the Canal Towpath, and taking the Towpath up to where it meets the CCT at Fletcher’s Boathouse. That section of the Towpath includes a free mudbath right now!

    I’m still baffled by yesterday’s commute. Who’s salting under rte 50 and at Brandywine castle? And why aren’t they doing it just up the trail? There’s no method to the madness out there.

    Does anyone know who salted those two areas?

    As of noon today, Holmes Run trail between Eisenhower Avenue and Chambliss Street is mostly clear of snow/ice with one exception: the tunnel underneath I-395. It features a full ice rink on the north side and ice along the east side (left side in the picture) of the tunnel as well.

    Generally there’s a snow/ice free line but not always, and if there’s other trail users (which there definitely were today)
