ParticipantI don’t think I recognize anyone on my commutes, other than people from here I run into occasionally. I think my timing/route choices are too irregular.

Participantconsularrider sighting (and greeting) this morning on the MVT! Not too many out there with those Salsa shorts.

Saw eminva on the MVT this morning. Sorry I was following too closely, but your natty Bike Arlington jersey had me dazed.
Strava linked your rides too!

ParticipantA certain BikeArlington staff member should log their missing miles for the A-Team! We’re falling down the ladder.
Congrats on winning the water bottle. That makes two riders to have won prizes, right?

ParticipantI usually just load up with my bought lunches at work every day. American serving sizes are big! A burrito from Chipotle with most of the fixings, or a salad from Chop’t is usually enough to keep me fueled up until my dinnertime (which is usually by 6pm). I do keep peanut butter, vegemite, and nuts at my desk as well (I bring in some bread/bagels once a week).

ParticipantIf the Chain Bridge => CCT connection was better, it’d be in my regular commute route rotation. That path isn’t so bad to walk down (be careful in cleats), but crossing the road while carrying your bike only to be met by a guardrail on the other side is not so fun.

ParticipantQuick question – what’s bike parking like? U-locks recommended?

ParticipantI’ve held off on getting any CX bike with 130mm rear spacing as it does seem to be moving towards 135mm for sure. I’m waiting to see what all the 2013 model year options will be like. LOTS of disc models it seems. (Not that I can really justify another bike right now anyway.)

BA has given out water bottles for about two years now. I believe they are translucent Trek bottles with either yellow or black tops and the BA log in dark yellow – I have two.
I have too many water bottles, but I do like those Trek ones.
Some kind of reflective tail might work. Hang a few off a helmet for a mullet style.

ParticipantNot a missed connection, but there was a guy on the MVT a couple afternoons ago on a super BLING shiny Cannondale MTB that looked brand new, with bright yellow (or perhaps light green) shoes, no helmet and no (or almost invisible) socks. Anyone else see him? It was like there were big rotating dollar signs hovering in front of me. Truly an amazing sight but those terrible MVT hills slowed him down a fair bit so I didn’t stay behind him too long. I think I may have dinged my bell/called a pass on his behalf but in my entranced state I don’t remember. (And yes I’m being smug, I’m sure he *could* have just finished a big ride and been totally pooped. But it still fell well outside of the range of usual bikes/riders on the trail.)

ParticipantGood to talk to you too! (even if I was distracted most of the time checking out your bike.)
The lousiest part of my commute is still better than the best part of my work day.

ParticipantActually 90s I guess. Same difference.

Whoa, I just looked him up on Wikipedia. Quite a character. He definitely should have gone into figure skating instead. And I thought this year’s LiquiGas kit on the TdF was bad (contrast stitching around the chamois is always a bad idea).
Can’t believe some folks considered Cipollini to be a sex symbol. Yuck.
Haha, yeah I also thought the contrast stitching was a bit too attention grabbing.
But Cipollini’s stuff was awesome! It was unique, and supposed to be over the top, and he had the results to pull off the look. Pro cyclists train as hard as figure skaters; nothing wrong with dressing like one.
Also, it was the 80s.
(aka awesome)

ParticipantI might try to make it this time – it sounded like a hoot.

ParticipantNice. Aksiums are very solid wheels from what I’ve heard, and my road bike came with them stock. They survived everything until I got serious case of upgraditis (when I replaced them with lighter Neuvations for climbing). I keep them as a backup set for my road bike, and hybrid.
