Ugh no- they threw some pebbles into the pothole but a pothole with pebbles is still a pothole.
And that pothole has gotten bigger since October when you wrote this.

ParticipantThis is off-topic. Is it common for people to walk dogs at kennels? There is a combination kennel and veterinary hospital just north of the W&OD trail where the water fountain is east of the US15 bypass. I have often see people walking dogs there on the trail.

Answering my own post: W&OD between Falls Church and Weihle Ave
FREE and CLEAR:
It must be ridiculously cold by the soccer field at Clarks Crossing Park. I have always thought that was the coldest part of the W&OD even in warm weather.

ParticipantSnow-clearing update: Crews currently working the east side of the trail, with one blower having cleared Falls Church east to MM 0, and another Smiths Switch Rd in Ashburn east to Reston. The east-most blower is now headed west to meet up with the blower passing through Reston.

It’s the end of the workday and the trail from MM 0 in Shirlington, east to Smiths Switch Rd in Ashburn, has been blown. Tomorrow, the west side…ursus
ParticipantI was thinking about going to this. Will it still be held if there is a downpour?
ursus
ParticipantAt least I don’t use Trollheim to get to HP.

It’s this Sunday.
You, yes you, need to go (despite what LSG may be thinking).
You do realize that this year I paid in advance as opposed to at event. That means that the weather is going to be awful despite the current forecast which just says cloudy.

ParticipantIt looks like a bike share station has been installed there now. https://twitter.com/MtVernonFriends/status/1070388666458128386

The Citizens’ bridge opened on October 3, 1992. One less busy road to have to cross.
I remember contributing to the building of that bridge.
26 years. Time certainly does fly.

The sign-up registration is done directly through WABA’s site so it goes straight to them. Not by me. It’s the same system they use for all their donations. I can ask re: encryption.
We will also accept donations onsite during the event*. There is a form on http://www.HainsPoint100.com to provide your info so we know you’re coming but want to donate on the 16th.
*To remain within NPS rules and permitting, I’ll state here for just in case purposes, there are no exchanges of goods or services when donations are accepted on site. Nothing is being sold as part of this event.
Thanks. I have renewed membership to WABA that way, so I guess it is fine.

ParticipantIs the credit card information encrypted?

ParticipantIt’s going to be improved/fixed/whatever https://www.arlnow.com/2018/11/20/biking-boating-changes-approved-for-theodore-roosevelt-island/.

ParticipantDoes anyone know if this is going to be held this year, and if so, when?
I had a goal this year of 1000 loops at HP. It looks like it will be yet another goal which I won’t reach (802 to date).

Here’s a question that I hope has not yet been addressed ad nauseam:
On the wharf side of Maine Ave there is a clearly marked lane for bikes and one for pedestrians…..Why is it that the bike lane is made of speed-robbing rubber and the pedestrian lane is made of plantar-fasciitis-inducing concrete? Wouldn’t it make more sense for the bikes to have the concrete and the peds to have the rubber?Understand storefronts likely prefer concrete to shuttle their wares in and out, however, every morning I get cut off by guys pushing trolleys across both lanes from Maine Ave to the storefront, which is not only harder for them to do, it chews up the rubber of the bike lane as well……Just does not make sense.
Maybe they wanted to slow cyclists down. OTOH, there are so many obstructions which slow down cyclists even more.
