ParticipantI checked in with my Top Men from Sportsbackers and was told that Martin’s got bought out and pulled out sponsorship. In the meantime, Sportsbackers is focusing on the RVA2DC ride.

ParticipantAnyone else able to come out and volunteer? We could use one more for Saturday evening.
I’ll be on that shift, so that means free cargo bike rides!

6th St S to Columbia Pike. Repaved last fall. Northbound bike lane striped at the time. Southbound bike lane didn’t get done before the weather got cold. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s missing some other stripey bits as well – crosswalks, etc. I can’t get anything other than “it’s on the list, we don’t know exactly when we’ll get to it. Hopefully within the next month.”
Sounds like they are bringing on more contractors to work on streets not completed last paving season. They’ll likely know more later this week on schedules.

I’m pretty sure closing sidewalks/trails for storage is against Arlington policy, but I don’t think Arlington is calling the shots on this one. I’m guessing VDOT is, based on it being adjacent to 50 and the absence of an Arlington ROW permit.
Last I heard, there was supposed to be a meeting today. I’ll let you know if I hear what comes out of that.

I thought I read on the sign that it would be closed through August 12.
Been chatting with folks about this. A worker said it would be closed until next year and the Daves told me that they are using it to store vehicles…

I am up for your suggestions.
Here’s a route that incorporates plenty of hills in your area: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/13800756
Both Oxford and 16th are among my favorites for that ride.

I have seen cars parked in there during the week. Not many, but some. Perhaps overflow from the lot adjacent to the access road, but it does seem far to go.
I think it is leftover overflow parking from a bygone time. The park lot even has a couple security cameras.
There are also boundary markers for the airport in the asphalt near the Airport Access Rd. And if you have the right bike you can parallel the tracks for quite awhile before it starts to feel too sketchy.

So, if it were not a VDOT road, how would I report it to Arlington (I am sure that will occur some time)?
Call or email it in?
