ParticipantAccidentally stumbled upon this park on my ride today when I made a wrong turn and ran into a dead end… where I discovered Dowden Terrace Park. It’s located at the dead end on Bouffant Blvd in Alexandria.

ParticipantIntroducing the “Staying Alive” Wormhole. When cycling from Old Town Alexandria to Mt Vernon there’s the MVT, but if you want to avoid the trail, the only other crossing of Little Hunting Creek is Rte 1, which to say the least in not very bike friendly. The “Staying Alive” wormhole passes through the Gum Springs Community Center grounds, connecting Napper Rd and Fordson Rd. Using the “Staying Alive” wormhole, especially north bound, allows one to connect from Mt Vernoon Hwy to Sherwood Hall Ln and pretty much avoids Rte 1.

Thor, time to start cropping/splitting your rides in Strava if you want to be competitive. Gotta minimize your miles per park. Or more effectively, don’t tag your rides until the last day or so, so that others remain complacent.
I think that could pad an individual’s number of parks, but it’s also self defeating for “the most average miles per park” category.

At the end of the game it is the total mileage associated with your park rides divided by the total number of parks. You only get credit for one park per ride.
Thor, I cannot tell if you are showing up on the leaderboard (be sure to place #parkfinder in your title) but you can see how everyone is doing by checking here: https://freezingsaddles.org/pointless/hashtag/parkfinder
Thanks, camiller, for the clarification! And I am showing up on the ParkFinder board.
