I ride TR bridge twice a day unless the White House is closed. It’s fine to ride and while I still slow down to pass someone coming from the other direction (out of courtesy), it’s no big deal anymore. The only issue would be the sharp 180 turn you’d have to make on Trollheim. And college students looking down at their phones.

I’ve heard of this Trollheim. Scary. More scary – students on phones (in big groups).

Alternatively, both 19th and 21st southbound move better than 23rd. You could then take Ohio Drive to 14th or take Memorial Bridge.

Thanks. I never take 23rd, but have taken I st East to 21st – and traffic is usually at a crawl (on 21st) to the mall. To get to 19th, I’d have to ride on Pennsylvania – and that traffic scares me. Many people turning, cars going really fast. I know, I’m new and wimpy.

I have. The one time I rode on that bridge , I felt like I was going to fall over the railing. I like the higher railings on the 14th st. bridge . I’m tall!:)

Ha, yeah, good question. I guess cycling kit is really anything that is cycling-specific, though it typically refers to road cycling. I don’t think mountain bikers get “kitted up”, though there is definitely mountain biking clothing. It doesn’t need to have sponsors, no; that’s only if it’s a team (or sponsored club) kit, typically — e.g. a few common ones around here are NCVC, District Taco, Veloworks/Spokes, etc. Kit typically refers to shorts and jersey, though I think it can still be “kit” generally speaking if they don’t match (aren’t same brand / same design / same club, etc.).

You probably should start by reading these: http://www.velominati.com/the-rules/

Those are written for road cyclists primarily, and while they’re a bit tongue-in-cheek, for the most part they do actually describe just exactly how one is measured when you roll up to the espresso ride, etc. You’ll see a lot of references to those rules on the boards (especially #5). I’m sure similar sets of rules can be (and have been) written for mountain bikers, urban/hipster/fixie culture, sandal-wearing commuters, triathletes (though maybe they, like Iowa, are only ever on the receiving end of ridicule), etc.

Thanks. And those rules crack me up!

He was the guy that came in wearing cycling kit and sat down to at the end corner (your right) at last happy hour.

Ahh. Thanks. I think i now know what cycling kit is. Dont y’all wear that all the time? Is a WABA jersey “kit” or only if it has sponsor names (ie free advertising) on it?
