Agreed…Paris I think was 5 minutes.
Side question: did you have a European chip credit card, or did you just get your day passes online?

As a fellow fellow Disc Trucker owner, I too approve this message. You two want to start a gang together?

The brilliant VA legislature passed a law this year that allows for stop signs on trails in limited situations
To piggy back, and correct me if I’m wrong, but the VA legislature really only made it legal for local governments to make a law allowing for stop signs on the trail. So stop signs on trails are legal only when a local ordinance creates a law that says that they are legitimate stop signs. This may get interesting on the W&OD, where Arlington is unlikely to pass a law for stop signs, but someone like, say, Loudon County might make such a law.

ParticipantBump. With TTHH coming up tomorrow, I thought I’d bump this thread up, as we do not have anyone committed to the August or October HH yet. If anyone would like to organize, just post here and I’ll put it on that calendar.
Thanks!

I would begin to hate them immediately if I were you.

ParticipantOne recommendation might be to check out The Old Bike Shop at Washington Blvd and Pershing. Most of the bikes are older, but many are quality frames that have been built back up into pretty nice bikes. IMO you could likely end up with a better bike than trying to buy a new or recently model bike in that price range. Others might point you to Phoenix Bikes off Four Mile Run for the same reasons, and even Papillon Cycles on Columbia Pike sells some used bikes.
Hope this helps.

ParticipantThere are a few different people that make something similar, but I know people really like their bartape, so….

I haven’t used anything like this, but it seems like it might help you out without looking bad at all. Especially if you can find a colorful version! (their website isn’t loading on my machine, so I can’t tell if there are multiple colors.

ParticipantI’m awaiting Froome’s posting of a picture atop Rosslyn Hill. I mean if our forum members are dominating his hills, I don’t see why he shouldn’t ride ours.
Great work Pete. Congrats on the great achievement and enjoy the rest of the trip.

FYI–It’s not lactic acid that makes you feel sore, and you don’t sweat it out:

I apologize for the ignorance of this question- so if I work out, how come i don’t do a recovery work out the next day so I don’t feel sore. What if I don’t recovery ride bur instead just rest one or two days and go do another ride? Will my legs get bigger after 2 months of this?
I’m no expert, but I believe the basics are that working out for long periods of time (I believe especially with long cardio) builds up lactic acid in your muscles. It stays there basically until you sweat some out. Doing light cardio (such as a recovery ride or run) can help move lactic acid out of your system without adding new lactic acid. Just resting will not help much with displacing lactic acid, and will therefore not actually help you recover nearly as much, and will take longer for you to feel good.

ParticipantSpotted Dickie today heading south at the airport ramp. Looked like he was channelling his countryman Froome.
Later I spotted someone walking on the MVT while reading a magazine. It’s bad enough on a treadmill, but Sunday on the trail….

ParticipantCongrats on all the effort and success! Bill is great. I really enjoyed his basic mechanics course. I’ve toyed with the thought of doing the wheel building course as well, which I think now is a 1 on 1 instructional course.
