I think that you are correct in saying that you won’t be counted.

I have yet to see the bikeometer read over 100 in about 5 trips past it in each direction. Because of its orientation I cannot see if it is working, and I have twice gone past it and then turned around, and it indeed is.

I hope that chris_s is correct about his interpretation of bikepedantic’s tweet. The only one which I saw just read that it was not painted to indicate it is a PBL, not that it was going to be painted. We will see.

I also walked from home, walked by the entire Wharf on the river side and then returned on the Maine Ave side (on the sidewalk, not the PBL :) ). There is really not much open there yet. It looks like stores, restaurants, etc., will be opening about weekly through the next few months. That actually is good as there will be a gradual increase in usage.

All very encouraging. Since I ferry my wife to work on Maine Ave daily, I can monitor who’s opening up, as well as progress in striping/marking the PBL. My hope is that the coffee shop part of District Hardware & Bike will be open when I run RAID Papillon-District Wharf through there this Saturday.

My understanding from some @bikepedantic tweets is that “full markings” are coming for the PBL. No kermit, but I’d guess that includes a centerline & cyclist icons.

Dirt’s Bikenetic Coffee Ride is charging through as you see it this morning… The place just opened up, so it is reasonable to expect striping to be done this coming week. If it is not done by the time RAID Papillon-District Wharf rolls through next weekend, how loudly should I complain?

On the Maryland side, it’s pretty easy to arrive by the towpath from Swain’s Lock or the Old Angler’s Inn lots. Very few cyclists will end up being tagged for this payment.

    Or Carderock…

I saw one of the Spin bikes (the orange framed one) up close “in the wild” in Penn Quarter a few days ago. Speaking to the question of these bikes’ durability, it had an LED front light, mounted on a fork tab. *Had*. All that was left was a circuit board. That didn’t take long at all… Compare this to the CaBi bikes which are designed to be abused by people who just don’t care- constantly, and come up looking like new- consistently.

Good morning. We are GO for this evening. The weather forecast- Partly cloudy, highs upper 70’s to low 70’s during the ride, sunset about 7:15pm. NOW is a good time to make sure your lighting setup is charged up and ready to roll.

Rollout is 7:00pm. While the shop officially closes at 6, we won’t lock our riders out. If in doubt, come around the back…

    Be there. Aloha.

It was nice meeting you, too! The emphasis is on sightseeing and having fun. We’re not racing, though some may want to ride faster than others. This is a no-drop event in that no one will be left behind.

Looking forward to seeing you again!

Oh, you just met my wife, Sue, who will be there, as well… (Wife, hijacking my ID? Not a problem… :) )

After the ride? Could be Brick Haus, could be Lost Dog. There is sentiment in the shop for a quieter post-ride drink… Stay tuned.

Nice to meet you at the Nats game. Sounds like fun. . I’m not a speed demon ..esp at night. Will this be a speedy group?

Speedy? No. This is more a scenic slow roll than a race. By design.

Change in plans- I am going to try to meet up around Fillmore St. Sue is sleeping in, not riding. But… She *might* try to Metro in to the Nationals Park area and rendezvous with us for lunch and the game. See if we can make this work…

SteveO, bobco85: Sue et moi will meet you enroute, if not at the Bluemont Caboose, most likely at the Learning Loop, 4MR Trail near the Pike (I assume this is the route…let me know if that is different.)

This is earlier than is customary for my New Jersey born & bred Diner Girl, and an ambitious ride for her, but we’re gonna do it. She will fuss if the pace is too fast, though…

Bobco, you and Sue have to talk about McNair. She works there @ Eisenhower School.
