ParticipantThat’s absolutely insane. You should be filing a police report for sure as that *is* assault

ParticipantI looked into non owners auto insurance when I didn’t have a car. I had just been using my credit card (Chase Sapphire) to cover insurance when I rented a car but learned that it only covered collision, not liability, which is required by law most places. One exception to this is Free2Move/Car2Go, those services provided liability insurance as part of your rental cost. I ended up deciding that the ~$20/day the rental car companies charged a the rental counter would be less expensive to me in the long run based on the frequency I was renting cars.
Adding to Steve’s point about state farm and bike insurance – I’ve found them to be great and way cheaper than similar bike specific insurances. I have my condo policy and auto policy with them. With the string of bike thefts in my area recently I checked with my agent to see what was covered with my bikes. I was surprised to learn about my $1000 deductable, like Steve has. My agent offered me a $500 deductable for only $15/year extra! No brainer there.
State Farm also mentioned that if anything happened to my bikes anywhere it would be covered – stolen out of my garage, car, work parking, public, trailside, etc. Or if it is on my car and I get rear ended. Still covered. I’ve been a life long state farm customer and the few times I’ve needed the insurance they have been great. Full disclaimer, my hometown is State Farms world headquarters and basically the only reason my hometown still exists
That’s my 2 cents

ParticipantHope y’all had fun sorry I couldn’t make it. But I did get out for an evening ride and had ANOTHER Secretary Pete sighting on the Anacostia trail. This time he was on a bike! He also had a security detail riding a fat e-bike.

ParticipantI might swing by after daycare and show off the baby for a bit. Still haven’t bitten the bullet and gone on the maiden voyage with my stem mounted baby seat but this is a reminder that I really need to do that.
On an unrelated note, Judd’s original post doesn’t show up on the “timeline” feature in Tapatalk, so the only reason I saw this thread is because of the reply. What other happy hours have I been missing? The horror!

ParticipantNPS bringing some seriously nice infrastructure improvements to the Mall and surrounding areas. Some disruptions expected but it seems like most work will be done this year.

FoMVT cleared the sight line at spot on the trail north of Old Town where the trail splits. I’m super proud of this one. We will be doing similar work this month at Four Mile Run Trail and the Daingerfield Island S-Curve.

ParticipantNPS has some more info about the closures in Greenbelt National Park. Looks like the north/south road reopens to cycling July 1 but the loop is closed until later in August. It’s still a little unclear to me if the campground reopens July 1 or not. Itching to do a little bike overnighter and looking forward to seeing the new rehabbed camp sites at Greenbelt.

After we got on the anacostia trail and turned north, before the little hill next to the recycle center. Two guys jogging the other direction past us.

ParticipantI’ll meet up at Philz. No baby this go around though I tried to install the baby seat last night. Who knew the hardware the Yepp Mini comes with is only compatible with threaded stems? Got a threadless stem that’s $24.99 extra and Daily Rider up here on H St didn’t have one in stock so I had to order online.

ParticipantSounds great. Haven’t met up with anyone for a ride since pre-covid and I’ll try to be there. It’s my usual haunt after all, and somehow I’ve never actually stopped off at Vigilante despite biking by Hyattsville all the time and being a huge coffee drinker.
Tell me more about this choose your own adventure stuff.

ParticipantWell I got fitted on a bike at Proteous a few years back and it was fine. Also recently got fitted on a bike by Smiley and it was fine too.
Neither resolved my lingering issues, but Smiley referred me to a PT.
If I go for another bike fit I’m going to find someone that also does some physical/mobility/flexibility assessments or specifically looks at feet, as I have a suspicion that’s where my issues lie.
If I was going to go back to either Proteus or Smiley I’d choose Smiley but I thought they were both good.
I’ve also seen Bike Doctor in Waldorf recommended a lot.
