Here is my annual contribution to bike-themed Christmas decorations. Rudolf is riding a late 1970’s Huffy that came with a rear disc brake.

Did Arlington County put out an alert about this that I missed? If not, 20 demerits for not announcing it and 50 demerits for not setting up a safe detour for bicycles.

Hands were a bit cold this morning, but the biggest challenge was the frost on the MVT “boardwalk”. I continue on the MVT east bound to the 14th Street bridge and the quick left-right at the intersection with the Roosevelt Bridge access path can be a bit tricky.

I guess that explains the nice pink spray paint on the bumps at Bluemont.

I believe that you are correct. Good thing that I was there to buy a women’s jersey! Thanks

Yes, Clarendon. I stocked them up about 3 or 4 weeks ago. When was the last time you were there?

The Revolution Bikes in Clarendon had a very limited selection this past Sunday – 2XL, one S and XS.

    Update:

    W&OD STOP sign ticket dismissed
The cyclist who was cited by Falls Church police for failure to stop at one of the STOP signs along the W&OD Trail at Great Falls St. contested his ticket in court. The ticket was dismissed on the recommendation of the Commonwealth Attorney.

The question is how does this get communicated to Falls Church and Arlington police.

I usually yell out “get a light!”, but that is mostly to satisfy my inner curmudgeon so I might add “and stay off of my lawn!”

Do you come out of Vienna on the WOD going towards DC??

No, I get on the WOD in Arlington near the East Falls Church Metro. I’d like to put fenders on it. It is also my ride to the Westover Beer Garden every now and then.

My route is similar to TwoWheelsDC’s but I simply go down Independence to 15th St, cross the 14th St. Bridge and take the MVT to Rosslyn.

Amazed at the brilliant colors this morning, but they will soon be gone after the election and most of the signs go away. The leaves looked nice too.

Taking cyclists and pedestrians into account when doing road work would be great, but I’d be especially happy if there could be rules for work done on the trails. The experience with the tree trimming on the Custis Trail was horrendous (randomly blocked trails, poor detours, debris left on the trail) and I still often run into similar situations (such as the Arlington County truck parked on the W&OD near Bluemont last Saturday morning at 8:00 am).

It may also be easier to collect a larger revenue stream by ticketing cyclists, rather than enforcing other laws. Just sayin’.

Apparently, PG county is considering a law requiring lanes for bicycles and space for walkers when roads are under repair, as well as for all new roadways. Here is the article (h/t to TheWashCycle): http://www.gazette.net/article/20121017/NEWS/710179356/1029/prince-george-s-looks-to-open-roads-to-bikers-and-pedestrians&template=gazette
