If you want to take the bus, you can ride the 5A all the way to Rosslyn or L’Enfant Plaza. Just stick your bike on the rack in front.

I wish someone had told me this before I dropped a few billion on a new train.

i carry a platypus in a pannier, with an extension tube connected to it. for the morning commute, i forgot to clip the tube to my shirt, and the tube was dragging, with the bite valve touching the chain. fortunately, i had a green smoothie in my bag, and hydrated with that while i was riding to work in the morning. and i was able to get to the bike lane in reston town center once i got to work and buy a replacement bite valve. i

Don’t be afraid of a little chain grease. It toughens you up.

Yeah, why do you ELITE riders always want to point out the shortcomings of others?

txgoonie — I completely agree with you about design by committee. I have a fairly specific idea in mind, but am not a graphic designer, so can’t put it on paper. It’s pretty simple, so I think someone with skillz could put it together quickly. Basically, if there were a designer willing to work with a project manager, we could see who (else) had an idea, and we could pick someone as project manager. Then PM and GD could get the design done and ordering can proceed.

With a graphic, I think the abstract question of “do you want this on a jersey” or “do you want this on a sticker”, etc, becomes a lot easier to answer. From my experience ordering things, it’s really easy to get graphics put on things, if you have the graphic done and the people willing to pay for the things.

Oh, and duh — what about water bottles? We did them for our wedding and there were $2/piece. Again, easy once you have the graphic.

I could always use more water bottles. That’s a good idea.

I would like a nice jersey, but honestly I’m not willing to shell out the cash for one right now.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but since they split the “bonus” miles evenly, it looks like LA is already at $10K so all our efforts over the next week are for Kansas City.

I thought “people are people” was Depeche Mode.

That really was an egregious mistake. Tears for Fears?! Martin Gore’s poor little English heart died a little this morning.

Clearly, whatever form of swag we adopt for the Forum (see other thread) must include the words ELITE Rider somewhere. On this there can be no debate.

Wow, I really thought I was making that up (though I was thinking of Banksy, of course).

Are there any graphic designers out there?

What if we start with a logo, then we can slap it on a jersey, jacket, socks, “bike-bumper-stickers” (think 1/2″ x 6″ stickers that can go on your top tube or on the back of your helmet) or even waterproof bags?

A stencil so we can tag our bike stuff (and orange traffic cones that we throw behind jersey barriers). We’ll call it Bikesy.

By my count from a few minutes ago, only 2500 trips to go to reach the top-off for both BikeWalk KC and LACBC. With 7 days left to go, it’s a reachable goal. I see that LACBC updated their newsletter relling folks about the extension, but BikeWalk KC seems to taking a more passive approach. I guess it’s up to us to make it happen.

Their “passive approach” indicates two possibilities. I’ll take the optimistic view that it shows they really need the funds.

I’ve got one set of the Supra2 in salmon and one set of the dual compound mountain pads. Got em off Amazon Prime, think they were $11 and $13. Or, y’know, a couple of ciders. :)

I think that’s 12 ciders at CapCity happy hour. Lush.

The revised goal is 14,519 to make up for the Kansas City and Los Angeles shortfalls. We’re close to 11,700 today. If we stay on pace with last week, we should blow past 14,519 by this weekend.

Judging by the low numbers posted this morning, that might be a tall order.

    Thanks!

Amazon has it for $8.21 right now, maybe I’ll grab a copy :) I ordered the wrong brake pads so I need to do another order anyway (anybody need some threaded Kool Stop pads?)

Are those the salmons all the kids are talking about? Yes, I do need some of those. What did you pay?
