Now if I can just do something about the brewing motorcycle / bicycle parking dispute in my building, I can be happier:
Judging by the sign on the wall, it doesn’t look like you’re going to win this one. They purposely combined motorcycle and bike parking?

ParticipantMy favorite part of the new section was all the cars driving in it this morning. Forget left hooks – cars were in the bike lane the entire block. The smooth pavement was nice, though.

ParticipantI love a good fiscal constraint rant. Or any rant, really.

Zombie apocalypse on CABIs. I like it!
Depends on the zombie model. Fast zombies will catch anyone on a CaBi. Which means I only have to pedal faster than the nearest CaBi.

It isn’t often that I find a bike from a major manufacturer to put on a covet list…
It is hard to shop for the man who has everything.

Today I was riding with the 2 year old on a street, and there was a dead squirrel in the middle of the road. She pointed it out, and I explained that, yes, that’s a squirrel and it’s in heaven now. She asked about the squirrel 3 or 4 more times on the ride.
The first time my older daughter noticed a dead squirrel on a ride, she thought it was a stuffed monkey. She kept asking me to go back and get the monkey so we could find the little girl who lost it. I finally had to fess up on the grim reality.
A couple of days later at dinner she asked me if “chicken” was the same as “a chicken.” I said yes. Her: “Well that’s mean!” Not if you want to eat, I explained. “Oh.” And she proceeded to finish dinner.

ParticipantIt’s amusing that in the bad “right hook” example the car used a signal, but in the proper example (waiting for the cyclist) there was no signal.

ParticipantYou owe us each a beer for these. That is all.

after 3 1/2 bottles of water to catch up for my earlier dehydration/cramping/near-death (ok, exaggeration), a pretzel from Kel, and a plate of wings, I was able to limp the 2 miles to Crystal City metro. I had a guide most of the way there, and promptly got a little lost when we parted ways lol. /dramaqueen
Sorry, man. As soon as we split I realized I could have ridden with you farther to the Metro and then taken Potomac back instead of the MVT. For some reason I was thinking the Garmin that had already gotten you lost would be a better guide than me.

That’s yesterday’s fad. If you’re not riding Gangnam Style, you just have no hope of being a hipster. Turn in your Hipster Membership card at the door.
Gangnam Style is on the way out already. I know this b/c the guys in the announcer booth at our local high school were blasting it during a football game a few weeks ago. Once the parents have caught on…

I’m also considering maybe upgrading the chain ring (go from 42t to 50t large ring) and crank (go from 165mm to 175mm). It may cost an additional $100 to purchase online and install locally.
[/LIST]In my opinion, this is where you would be wasting your money. The other expenses are fine for extending the life of your bike and getting it ready to ride regularly, but making major changes like new cranks and/or chainrings wouldn’t be worth it. You’d be better off putting that $100 aside and getting your upgrade bike that much sooner.

Every time I hear “This isn’t the Tour de France” There are so many good retorts going through my mind…
Well, this isn’t CHiPs!
Holy cow, really? I’m wayyyy off course!
I like the CHiPs retort. Add a “Ponch” to the end of it. LEOs should love that.

It looks like that’s what Mark just posted — the twisted bikes of those smacked at Lynn & Lee.

So, this is what I met this morning when I arrived. So far I’ve only shared with one other bicycle. Am I being too passive aggressive by parking close to the motorcycle instead of just parking at the far side of the rack?

If it were a cool motorcycle, yes. That one: no.
