ParticipantJust picked up some Nokian studded tires off CL. Not sure they’ll fit under my fenders, so I might be looking for wider ones. Bring on the ice!

Skip to 2:30-ish for the more entertaining part… stupid reduced coefficient of friction forced my bike to enter into a power slide and me with it…
How did you edit out the cursing without the sound going out?

ParticipantWith apologies to Bing (not a haiku)…
Silver bells. Silver bells.
It’s ninja time in the city.

The safety improvement is you’re more predictable to other traffic. Motorists and pedestrians don’t expect people to run a red light in the roadway, but crossing in the crosswalk with the signal is expected.
This. Also, if you’re crossing at a four-way ped crossing but outside of the crosswalk, you’re potentially impeding the movement of pedestrians crossing perpendicular to (in front of) you.

Hmph – well it’s sold out in my size/color (black 58cm) so no impulsive decisions today. I worry, though, about the really short chainstays. My San Jose had 425mm stays, and this bike is 405mm. Too twitchy, I’d suspect. I like relaxed geometry, and the attendant handling – I’m no bike messenger
Here’s a 58 cm. No idea if that’s a good price.

So your issue is with the pronunciation, not the word.
Moving right along…
So, did you enjoy the video? Did it bring a grin to your face?
But of course.

ParticipantNo, I simply listened to Zanna’s pronunciation: smy – ul. If I were southern I might pronounce it “smahl,” but I’m not.

ParticipantSmile is two syllables. Should be grin.

The pain and suffering of hard physical exertion is like a fickle girlfriend. It must be enjoyed and romanced. Why deaden the sensation with painkillers?
I’ve had a few girlfriends who necessitated painkillers.

I think you’ll need 3 of those 6.5Kw generators to run that 18Kw light. Other than that, totally do-able.
How about a motorcycle headlight wired to a MC battery and an alternator that’s powered by a belt to the left side of a flip-flop hub. I think I could set it up at less than 5000 grams.

ParticipantEven assuming stop signs are legal on MUPs (bear with me), how is that stop sign properly placed? Instead of being on the right side of the traffic lane, as it should be, it’s on the left, completely on the other side of the “roadway.”

ParticipantIt took me an hour and a half to drive home from Old Town to Annandale. I think every street was jammed with people avoiding the beltway.

+1 to the temperature pockets… I noticed them all the way down the W&OD from the Custis. Kind of neat actually.
That sound might have been a vortex spun off the wings of a plane that had landed a few moments ago… with the landings coming from the north/west you notice that effect a lot more at Gravelly Point.
That’s what I thought, except the last plane had been more than a minute before.
