The crossings at DCA on the MVT? The problematic one, at the GWMP NB on ramp, probably gets more bike traffic than car traffic. Just put the stop sign on the ramp and not the trail.

Yep. Same with the marina crossing, although that one gets so little vehicle traffic that it’s rarely an issue.

If there are people who are doing the Strava Festive500, I can help you map out a route into the city that uses Wilson Bridge. There’s a lovely stop for Coffee in National Harbor. Oxon Hill Farm Park is LOVELY and a very cool place to ride through. Who cares if it is 12 miles out of your way!!!!

I’m not doing the Festive 500, but I would be interested in such a route. I thought the only ridable routes involved detours through military bases.

Re the Cross Check, anyone ever have issues with fenders and the horizontal dropouts? Also, how much more $ would it be to switch the barend shifters to STI of comparable quality?

Well I guess I was reading that diagram wrong then. I thought the detour was near the bike racks.

On a related note, I never understand construction times. Six weeks to repave a section of sidewalk?

It looks like the detour is mostly the area where riders leave the path and enter the street anyway. Doesn’t seem like it will be much of an issue as long as equipment is kept clear of the detour area. But the part of the path that’s at the last part of the bridge is what really needs work.

Also I have a confession: I found a Felt Breed SSCX on CL last weekend and didn’t post it here, I kept it secret and bought it for myself.
    sorry

NOW THIS I LIKE!!!!!!! Except we actually need to install the tire damaging devices more than the signs themselves.

Will the “bollards are teh death” folks be upset about sharp metal spikes sticking up from the ground?

I had two people comment on the brightness of my light as I came up behind them. The first was by Jefferson just as I came off 15th St and still had the flash on. It wasn’t DaveK (he didn’t yell at me). The second was on the MVT with my steady light on. And I don’t have even close to the brightest light out there,

Oh no, sounds like I may have to take the shorter route to work during the winter challenge. Or the extra long one.

Wow, I can’t believe you are already posting, presumably from home. That totally sucks. Is there surgery in your future? If so, try to get a second opinion. Orthopedics seems to be more art than science unfortunately.

Instead of crutches hopefully you will get one of those three wheeled scooters to push yourself around on. At least you could put a bell on it.

You could also set up some segments in your office. KOM in the hall!

Get well soon. But if you were to ride with a broken femur you’d have ultimate hard-man cred.

I liked the sign post fail because my brother did something similar several years ago with a piece of street furniture in San Diego — just as a fire engine was slowly driving by. Man, those fire fighters made fun of him.

I also want to do a century in 2013. Possibly on my hybrid.

That’s my goal for the coming year, too. I think I’ll be somewhere between 3200-3300 by the end of this year, my first year bike commuting.
