1. Oblivious dog walker with a dog on a long lease.
2. The ill-defined pile on the trail in front of him is a standing runner, a prone runner and a prone cyclist. The downed runner moved to pass the standing runner while the downed cyclist passed. Dare I say the cyclist likely did not call his pass?
3. One of two Elite cyclists who passed me and the whole mess without a word when they should have been queuing up behind me to carefully pick our way through. No one was injured, except for pride. Runner to cyclist in second image – “You should be wearing a helmet”.
The MVT was a disaster yesterday. I saw far too many dangerous passes by oblivious riders for my personal comfort level and a friend of mine was nearly run off the trail a few times whilst coming to meet me. I’m going to avoid the trail for a while until the situation calms down.

ParticipantWe should be more worried about Virginia where one state senator has introduced a bill which would mandate that all roads with two lanes in each direction have a speed limit of 45mph regardless of any other considerations. Apparently, this bill was spurred by the legislator having hit someone on a moped while driving and instead of improving their own skill, the legislator decided to draw up a bill which would effectively ban anything but cars from Virginia roads.
I doubt it will pass but it gives you an idea of the intellectual capacity of some of the legislators in Richmond.

ParticipantOur team is short one member and I’m pretty sure that Subby has reached out to those who aren’t yet on the leaderboard.

Hey, howdy, HI TeamX
1st timer here… with one quick clarification question. (Perhaps I was ill advised about a penalty regarding 1 mile/Sleaze/11-12 point days rides?)
Having been told demerits or point reductions are assessed for a certain number/percentage of these short ride days.
True or false? Thx! –ChuckSI was not docked any points for having ridden sleaze rides last year.

I am going to Pittsburgh next weekend. If the weather Monday is favorable, I might stop at the Shed on the way back here. But it will be hard to resist a stop at Wolf Rock’s near Latrobe PA instead.
If you are going alone and haven’t been there yet, having a guide is a good idea. Apparently, it’s very easy to get lost in the Frederick Municipal Forest.

It may be that I have never really given the Shed a good try. When it comes to rocks, I have hopes, slim, to ride at Davis WV once more. Both the moonscape rocks, and the damp rocky & rooty stuff there really appeals to me.
I like technical riding as well hence why I like the Shed however I’ve never done Elizabeth Furnace so I can’t compare.

ParticipantRide the Shed one last time.

ParticipantI got a pair of Upright Cyclist jeans. They look pretty nice so far however they need to be hemmed before I can go for a test ride.

Oh, I’m not making an assertion about whether APD has a stupid policy, just commenting on the futility of defining a “good” eyewitness.
I am not trying to put words in your mouth at all. If that is how it sounded, then I apologize.
I wanted to point out how the police cannot get their stories straight.

Current research suggests that all eyewitness testimony is useless, so taking any action without video is basically making stuff up.
The irony of your statement above is that the APD won’t even take video footage as evidence of negligent driving.
I have a colleague who submitted video of an egregious driving violation (passing too closely) while she was riding her bike and the APD issued their usual refrain,”We can’t do anything.”

Looking for any update on the status of your dad and the possibility of fighting the ticket?
I find it especially interesting that the APD repeatedly tell us that they can’t enforce violations of traffic laws (3 foot passing, aggressive driving) without witnessing said infraction yet in this case, the officer took eyewitness testimony from a single eyewitness to write a ticket.

Just getting this thread up and running.
I also want to announce a solution to this issue:
I volunteer!
I have ordered a big supply of NEON GREEN ankle bands like this:
When they come in I will make them available for $3 each; 2 for $5. You can put them on your ankles or just wrap one around one of your tubes. I think the green is unusual enough to make it easy to spot each other.
I’ll definitely be in for two.

Please don’t. Having a mixture of former players and new players is what helps us build our community of friends. There is no limit on the number of players, so your not playing does not make another spot available. There is room for all.
Understood. I was under the impression that there were a limited number of spots. I’ll rescind my request in that case.
