ParticipantThe NY Bolt Bus or Chinatown bus will let you take the bike for free. I see a lot of people bring their to NY for weekend ride.

ParticipantDon, welcome to the forum. I used to live in Columbia, MD and took the MARC train daily. Sadly, the MARC train doesn’t allow the regular bike on the train, only folded bike. There are plenty of room on the train at each end to have mount hooks for bikes.
Here is a picture of designated area for hanging bike on the Portland Light Rail.

ParticipantBeside, riding with earphones is illegal in Virginia. If I decide to buy it, I need to consider the environment and turn it down when riding on the trail. Thank you for all the feedback.
Here is the link to the VA law.

ParticipantAnn,
Congratulation on the Back Roads Century. I wasn’t able to walk up stairs when I completed my first Back Roads Century years old.
My guess that it doesn’t sound good at all.
Rick.

ParticipantCarFree Metro DC had a boot near Verizon Center to hand free stuff a few years ago. I got a nice shirt from them. Do you know if they have it this year?

ParticipantI didn’t see them when I rolled through there at 6:50 PM. At this intersection, the front car stopped for me and the ugly Red BMW Z3 coupe behind blasted his horn.

This confirms that some of you are certifiably CRAZY!!!!
but we’re happier. I saw so many cars stuck in traffics everywhere. Today commute took only 5 minutes longer than a normal day commute.

ParticipantThe W&OD past Ohio Drive was a fast moving river at 7:00 PM and not passable. There was cyclist tried to ride through it and almost got wash away. He stuck in it for more than 30 minutes and barely reach on other end alive.
I took the detour without any problem.

ParticipantCCrew,
How is the W&OD trail from Vienna to Reston? Is it passable? I need to get to Reston.
Thanks.

Just to slow down, say down a hill and i chicken out at around 20mph or as i’m approaching joggers, rear. when i get to an intersection slow it rear and then gun the front to actually stop on the mark.
the rear by itself is pretty useless, i just keep rolling, good enough to slow but not stopping where I need to stop.
You might want to use the front brake more. I use the front most of time and rear when it’s wet. Here is the link about braking.

Participantponchera, Which brake are you using most of time? Front or Back?

ParticipantAfter the Earthquake, all the bikes at Chinatown station are gone. Traffic is really bad. It’s best day to be on the bike.

What are the rear gears on the old and new bike?
Old commuter bike: 12/25
New Weekend Bike: 12/25Thanks. I just found out the my cassette is a Shimano CS 6700 instead of SRAM Red.
Dam, I paid for a full SRAM RED groupset. The local bike shop took me for a ride again.

ParticipantThe guy might misunderstand you when you yell out “I LOVE YOU”, especially from a pink bike.

ParticipantThere are a lot of cops in dc today. It’s an “All Hands on Deck” weekend.
