I was very surprised to see sharrows were painted on Silver Hill Rd in Suitland MD some time this week

I you think that is uncontrolled rage then you have to be the most sensitive person I have encountered. Did I threaten anyone? Did I cut off anyone? Uncontrolled rage is when someone goes postal or assaults someone. Grow up and grow some nads Mr Sensitive. And don’t cry when I call you out when you hit me. Just apologize.

Don’t think people won’t perceive your yelling and obvious anger as a step before an assault. I would. And If I had been riding with my wife and you came yelling her like that at her, you had better by good with your hands and not just your yelling. I would not wait for you to make what I assume would be the first physical escalation.
    I would take the initiative.

What about the Stans Grail rim instead (http://www.notubes.com/Grail-C158.aspx) ? I think the Grail is a far better option since you can run road or CX tires tubes or tubeless. It’s cheaper (last I checked, anyway) and more aero to boot. And the Alpha rims have that reputation for blowing non-tubeless road tires off the rim. I built a set of Grail wheels to use for CX on my commuter and they are awesome. Luckily both the Grail and the Alpha 400 let you use higher (~120kgf) tension.

I want a pair of grails, however, am still using rim brakes on the rear of my Poprad. I might do the front with a Grail as I am using a BB7 there.

Using public parks for your pipe dream training…. Where have I seen that go wrong recently?

I recognize some of the folks in the group, while none of them are getting calls from ONCE, some of them are hyper fast and regional accomplished.

Salsa may warranty it if your lucky.

They might, but I would consider it wrong to even ask. Abusive to ask them to replace a rim I used to death, plus moving to tubeless om my CX bike is a good thing.

I may still run the old rim in the DCCX. Won’t have time to build a new wheel before then.

And I will tell you that if someone had bumped me like that, I would have probably reacted in the exact same way. :

As someone who has gotten into multiple fist fights with other riders, I know at a point in my life, I would have reacted badly as well. I probably would have pushed into the group to get next to her and may have purposely knocked her down. Now I really try to just let it go and am better for it.

While commuting into town, I try to avoid the whole salmon maneuver and the sidewalks near the Jefferson Memorial. Sometimes I don’t go this way and like the above posted, am ashamed when I do not. It is not too long and somebody even made it a Strava segment. Plus it gives me a chance to see Hanes Points riders and pass them on full time trail bikes on my fendered commuter. http://www.strava.com/segments/6978169?filter=overall

In my experience you can either get wet from the outside or wet from the inside, but you can never stay dry. I’ll wear rain gear when it’s cold enough that the rain is going to pose a health risk, but I still expect to need to change at the end of the trip.

100% agree. I never expect my skin to be totally dry, even with my super fancy and expensive jacket, full fenders, rain-resistant tights and pants over them, and winter shoes. I always end up damp and needing a shower.

Your skin is waterproof keeping the rain out of your organs. The main goal of rain/winter clothing, keep you skin healthy and able to keep the rain out.

I see these types of folks less of TdF want-a-be’s but missing something because they never gave racing a real try. Those that have tried real racing are usually calmer, have less of a tendency to ride like a nut, and are nicer to other riders, hikers, walkers, ……

Just like most car racers are very calm, slow, and safe drivers day to day.

I actually completely agree that automated cameras have almost nothing to do with safety. They are purely revenue generation.

I know neither the politicians taking legal bribes from the companies running such systems nor those companies themselves are concerned about safety over revenue generation. Regardless I still want the cameras. I see the speed, traffic light and yes even stop sign, cameras as having a safety benefit. Slowing cars down, keeping people from running lights, blocking the box, etc. makes driving and bike riding safer. Yes not in every single variable (ex. rear end collisions at traffic lights) but overall yes.
