Have you tried warming up the tires and putting ~100psi in them? Would be a grunt to fill to that pressure with a hand pump, but it could be done on the trail.
A 32c tire at 100 PSI might damage the rim. Many tubeless rims have PSI limitations. Plus lots of CX tires have pressure limits below that.

The bicycle that got me banned from participating in FS (not just banned from using it to log FS miles). This vehicle is great on wind chill days–no face mask needed. Very stable in cross winds but the power requirements go up a lot unless I slow down. I don’t like temps below 20 because of my discomfort with freezing fingers. I haven’t had a chance to try pushing through accumulated snow. This winter i’ve been keeping up with my 100 mi/week commuting schedule. I even got in one 70 mile weekend ride pulling a trailer with a protest sign.
I bet bar mitts/pogies would help you when it is below 20. They are amazing. Do not recommend buying bike specific ones, they are way overpriced. These are cheap, look ok: http://www.partsforscooters.com/112-7-ATV-Logic-Hand-Mitts

ParticipantOld topic, but I was surprised to see this notice on some AAA Colorado junk mail.

ParticipantNot to make you feel bad, but here in Loveland the bike paths are plowed and the streets are not. I love the not plowing or salting streets since I love riding on fresh snow.

ParticipantI used to go up and down it all the time. Once a early morning crew stopped me, but it turned out I knew the agronomist directing the guys. He had taken a GIS for turf grass folks years ago.

Those both sound great – thanks fellas. Spoke with a guy today about Fort Dupont and he said the area is kinda sketchy – is that right? If it’s just kids having a smoke that’s fine, I’d just rather not be chased out of the woods by some lunatic huffing bath salts a la New Jersey.
The most of have encountered is kids smoking or being amorous. Yes some of the areas nearby are sketchey, was once threatened with a gun about 5 blocks away, but the same thing routinely happens in EVERY section of DC.
I would not recomend riding there later in the day. Weekend afternoons are pretty good.
BTW, if you are looking to buy a house in DC, jump on anything near the south west of the park. Those places are still ok priced and going to sky rocket after the Busboy opens.

ParticipantHello. Yes I was leading rides in Fort Dupont for a long time. They are open to bikes. The link below is to a Ride with GPS route of all the trails.
Folks from DCMTB took over when I moved. They may be leading rides.
The biggest problems over there are trash, poison ivy and the road crossings. Often it is hard to find the next entrance. The terrain is not super challanging, but a great in DC escape. Some of the sections are amazing: huge trees, lots of deer, turkeys and no visable buildings nor roads.

ParticipantI find the tendency to tear down the eye bolt odd. All locking systems are 100 percent defeatable if you have the time, imagination, knowledge, and right tools. (Example I can defeat any laminated Master lock in 5 mins with a hacksaw and flat blade screwdriver)
Even the idea of using a water pipe is funny. If copper, a hacksaw can get through that is 1 min. If steel, a manual saw sall could get through that in 10. An electric in 1.

ParticipantI just bought a pair of the Specialized bar mitts. Way too expensive, $125, but they look way better than others I have seen.

ParticipantWow. I was very upset with my Sectors today, until I learned what I ran over. I ran over a puncture plant that produces goat heads. No bike tire can handle them. Even motorcycles and cars are at risk.
Luckily I had just added sealant. After digging all 20 plus goat heats out, both tires sealed up and are fine.
