ParticipantDid a group ride (https://www.strava.com/activities/1357620310) on my local system: Devils Backbone, Blue Sky and Coyote Ridge.
The ride leader Evan got some good photos of me riding so I can meet the request for action photos:
This first one shows one of the rockier parts, but not the rockiest, along the Laugh Horse Loop. In a similar section with a much greater off camber slope, I have rolled off 4 rear tires on the worse of it.
I find this last one a reminder of why the riding out here bothers me sometimes. The barren starkness just bothers me, especially in June and July when there is no way to escape the sun.

ParticipantDone this ride before FS, from my place to Barking Dog Coffee in Lyons. The coffee is good, the food better, and the atmosphere great.
Loved the cool older BMX cruiser sitting outside.

ParticipantThe All American IPA from Star City Brewing in Berthold CO.
This beer, and all I have had at Star City, have been okay but not outstanding. I still go to Star City because they have great music, many bluegrass and folky acts, that are trying to break into the Lyons music scene. Planning to go there again tonight (driving) to see this act: https://www.reverbnation.com/hotfoot

This is their marketing blurb on this beer:

American IPA brewed with a handful of elusive USA hops: Columbus, Simcoe, Amarillo, Mosaic and dry hopped with Citra hops. 2016 US Open Beer Championship – Silver.Raymo853

For an intro: I am an ex DC person. Did BAFS 3 times before, once as a captain. Am in the middle of moving from Loveand CO to rural VA south of Richmond. Fear I will not be getting many miles in between packing, driving cross country twice, dealing with movers, real estate agents, ….

ParticipantMany of my miles will qualify for this, but almost none of them will be in the MORE area and, to be honest, I won’t always post photos here nor remember to use the hashtag. Wish Strava would implement the ability to denote a trail ride vs road rides . Take a look at this Strava survey on this:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfggMF0bu-WD9gQs5Oi29-9k6dACFrAVlT1-VQeNRG7m4sUOA/viewform?c=0&w=1
and this feature request: https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/208834897-Mountain-Bike-as-separate-activity-type-or-tagMy photos of my ride from Jan 9th. Do not capture the best parts, but I was not going to stop in the best parts to take photos. Restarting in those rock gardens is nearly impossible.

There is one solution, and one solution only. Hydraulic disc brakes. It will be the best money you ever spend.
Of course those brakes using mineral oil (like most Shimano units) can have problems with the mineral oil getting too stiff below about 0 F.
I have noticed it, but just dealt with differnt feel, no locking open

ParticipantI am down in RVA today and staying with my in laws. Hope to get a sleaze ride in sometime Saturday.
I am 99% sure I moving closer to the Freezing Saddle home territory in just weeks to Chesterfield VA. Hope to get a sleaze ride in each state (CO, KS, MO, IN, OH, PA, WV) on the drive back. May be even to host FS folks coming down for the Monster Cross Feb 18th.

Just send Sunyata a PM to let her know. And preferably at least register for your team’s Strava club right away, even if you haven’t logged any miles.
So clubs/teams have been announced? I have seen no such notice.

I just spent an hour roaming my ‘hood, looking for rideable ice. I did some laps in a small stream that was frozen over, but my wife was hating the idea of me riding around the edges of Lake Artemesia, so I skipped it (begrudgingly)
I wish I had time to get down to C&O to check it out and ride it, if possible. It’s such a cool feeling biking on ice.
Of course I will flag any reflecting pool segment

ParticipantHas anyone ridden all of the top ten? How about even just five of them? I just have two, Hanes Backside and #7, the 8 min FTP in Golden CO that took me 10:40. I see two more 2018 Freezig Saddle folks have done that segment as well.

ParticipantShoot, my Gravelkings left me down on a ride. The sidewall got cut be a rock while on tame single track. Was my fault as I failed to follow my advice, go over rocks, not around. This is my first sidewall cut in years which is insane with my attraction to rocks.
Lots of the sealant came out. Had to tube it. May try to patch up side wall or may just get some G Ones.

Yes. That’s right on the registration form.
I signed up but never saw that specifically. One thing, the text wrap on the page was weird for me so I could not easily read a lot of it.
