Nothing lightweight about 30 miles! I plan on doing centuries quite often and most of the time I don’t end up doing them.

Definitely going to ride big this weekend, just not sure who/what/where/when yet. Debating a chill century-ish ride for one of the days. WOD to Leesburg, grab lunch, ferry across the Potomac, C&O back to DC, grab coffee, ride back home.

Ugh! Bob C (who I think happens to be one of those randonuttes) looks like a formidable opponent. If I had my old Garmin, I’d have a much better chance at beating him. But my stupid new Garmin cheats me out of about 10% per ride according to Ride with GPS. However, I will give it my best shot.

Any chance of getting a few bonus points for finishing in the top 3 of miles while doing this? It’s one thing to do a lot of climbing per mile, but it’s another to do it all the time. Haha, I figure it can’t hurt asking. Either way, I’m up to the challenge.

I feel your pain, my Garmin 520 doesn’t give me nearly the elevation as when I use my gf’s 800. The warmer it gets the less elevation I get also. No bonus for high mileage, keeping the competition open to everyone with at least Mt. Everst worth of total elevation.

I’ll throw in another six pack if you can take the KOM/QOM.

Like you wouldn’t go ride it the next day if you lost that KOM!

Ooooh, a hill challenge. Count me in!! I’m around 56′ per mile right now, but that includes many flatter rides than I usually do thanks to travel and the wickedly cold weather.

I figured you would be a front-runner, looks like you’ve got some competition! Bob C from Team 18 is sitting at 75 ft/mi, Cynthia P from Team 22 at 60 ft/mi, and Rachel C from Team 17 @ 59 ft/mi just from my quick look at the “Distance Elevation Speed” chart.

So this is both an individual and team thing???

It is an individual thing. Team prize only if the team averages over 50 ft/mi as a team. Right now Team 18 is at 54 ft/mi (RIP my credit card).

How in the world have I not made you try the skirt?! Last year at Apple Cross, quikaf77 even wore it on the podium (I need to find that picture). It is literally the best piece of cold weather gear I have ever bought.

Tania – I got the Showers Pass Skyline pants recently and they are amazing! fleece lined and waterproof front and back but stretchy sides. I can move well in them and they are almost too warm for me when I have tights and compression shorts on underneath.

I love this pointless prize. I also think there’s a good chance you’ll be awarding it to yourself.

I’m obviously excluded from winning my own prize, but even if I was in the running I doubt I would win. Also as of today if Team 18 keeps it up I will have a large bar tab at the closing HH! They are averaging 54.3 ft/mi!

If you really, really can’t stand not knowing where you are in the individual point standings

Different people get different things out of BAFS, there are lots of ways to play. Personally I am someone usually near the top and I enjoy checking to see how I measure up against the top riders.

That’s my understanding – I think it was mentioned towards the end of the 30 page scoring thread of death and destruction.

For folks who really care about that aspect, you can see that as part of the SteveO’s Crazy Idea leaderboard at the moment (it won’t tell you a number but you can get a rough sense of placing).

    Oh boo, that sucks.

Is anyone interested in a group ride Sunday or Monday? I’m open to suggestions for meeting points and destinations, but I’ll pitch Best Buns in Shirlington as a meeting point and Caboose Brewery in Vienna as a destination.

I work Monday, but could probably do Sunday. What time are you thinking? I’ll be out riding early and could meet in Shirlington whenever.
