ParticipantIt’s not CX, but my wife’s old Specialized Rockhopper (2005, I think) is for sale: https://flic.kr/p/wGWQVh
It’s a pretty small size – she’s 5’2″, and it’ll fit someone much shorter than her, and all the way up to 5’5″ (me). Hasn’t seen many miles, so the drivetrain’s still in great condition (as are all the other bits). You’re welcome to try it (the standover may be a bit high, but may yet fit).

ParticipantMy wife has these: http://www.amazon.com/Teva-Freewheel-Fashion-Sneaker-Chocolate/dp/B006H52L8Q/ref=sr_1_1?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1441407865&sr=8-1&keywords=teva+womens+bike+sneaker
It’s the women’s version of the Joyride bike sneaker, which I use almost on all bike rides. The sole’s grippy enough that you can go minimal with the pedal spikes.
Teva apparently is discontinuing their bike shoes, so closeout prices too – if you can find the right size.

Belt drive! I just had to go with the orange pedals.

Soooo nice.
I forgot to tell you – I went to Bikenetic. Saw it. Licked the frame. It’s mine now.
(but I’ll let you borrow it)

Pretty good deal for a new Volagi road bike, 53cm SRAM Rival. $1600 “Buy it now” price. No bids yet for auction.

Looks like it’s from a dealer:
New old stock. First model year for the Volagi I believe it is a 2012 bike. It has been on the sales floor and has had only brief test ride miles. It will be professionally packed in the original travel box and shipped anywhere in the continental US

Ruh roh. I ride a 53, even.

ParticipantYou people are weird.
Emery cloth is being obtained. For some reason I’d convinced myself that sanding or filing my rims is going to lead to flaming disaster, but now that I have people to blame if I die, I’m gonna try it.

ParticipantHell if I know what caused this. My theory is that this happened after my crash some weeks ago – the tire blew out right after, and the path was rough – maybe it glanced off gravel? Maybe I knocked it about while changing the tire? I remember being annoyed at first crashing and then flatting.

If no better options present themselves, I have a knockoff 3T carbon seatpost. While new/unused, the quality leaves something to be desired (flaking paint on alloy head), but you can have it (for free, I don’t need a setback seatpost).
Awesome. I’d prefer a trade in the interest of useless parts equilibrium, but I’ll let you know.

the only bad news is that i’m so wrapped up in writing my dissertation that i wouldn’t get around to building it up myself until september at the earliest, so i’m having bikenetic build it up. It should be ready in a week or two–as soon as all the components are in. (i’ll just have to get another bike to build up myself, i guess!)

What do you think? Will my feet slide off to certain doom? Will I die? Will my bike hate me?!
You’ll get a lot of people talking to you about why you don’t use clipless and OMG why don’t you believe in foot retention?
I like (i.e. have):
1. MKS Lambdas, which would look really spiffy on the Space Horse. Though they do get slippy in the rain, if you wear the wrong shoes. Rivendell has a hack for making em grippier.
2. VP-001. So many colors.
3. Crank Bros 5050, in Red.
4. VP Push, which are nylon composite things. I had them on the winter studly singlespeed, and the nylon stuff has the advantage of not conducting away what little heat you have in your feetses, too.I once rode briefly with someone who had the VO Sabot pedals – I’d have gotten those if the three above weren’t significantly cheaper.
If you get pedals with pins that you screw in yourself, you can leave just 3-ish mm exposed – it doesn’t take much exposed pin for adequate grip, and it doesn’t take much more before they get shoe-shreddy.

ParticipantOoh ooh ooh.
I’ve been dilly-dallying on selling my Soma Iggy wheelset, with a 5-speed Sturmey Archer. Fits former fixie frames (120mm spacing)
But! Chain drive.

ParticipantInside car? We used to have a Honda Fit, and with the back seats folded down, you could put a bike, maybe two in there. Presumably a Cherokee could do this. I may be imagining this, but I think I’ve seen pictures of in-car crossbar things that you can clamp the fork to.

This particular job seems a little … inelegant – my bikes have smaller zip ties, which reduce the ugly a bit. And the Enve fork on the Colossal has a much smoother cable-guidey system than this fork seems to have.
That said, if you’re ever going to use this in snow/mud, the fully covered cables is worth the mild ick of the zip ties – some snow/road crud made it into the 1cm of exposed cable on the Fargo, and then into the housing, and the front brake started sticking. It was an interesting ride, that.
