Back-to-back-to-back (to-front?) centuries for you.
And I know some sandbagger off the AyeAyes that just started commuting to work…

ParticipantMe: Stopped to go straight across 29 from West to the Safeway.
You: Cool guy in white minivan with tri plates giving me props for commuting today. Little did you know it was my first commute home. Thanks!PeteD
ParticipantMy Morning Commute… was my first. It takes me as long to get to work as it does on a bad rainy day in the car. Plus I burned 340 calories before work. All this prep work came to fruition. Now if I could only adjust my front deraileur to give me my plaque back.
Realize I now need baby wipes and deodorant in the drawer in my cube.

ParticipantAre the differences between an SPD / SPD-SL / Look / Speedplay / Crankbros from a performance/functionality standpoint really all that different? Conventional wisdom has SPD / Crankbro for MTB/Hybrids, SPD-SL/Look/Speedplay for road bikes, something about size of contact and ability to transfer power… I’m just looking at cost and ability to re-use if I wanted to get a set of PD-T780s for my hybrid… Since shoes and pedals are so damn expensive…

ParticipantThis week I passed my big weight loss goal, 25% of body weight (i.e. 72 pounds.) My reward:
Though I still need to get clipless…Next goal: 35%. That’ll get me up Mont Ventoux in July.

ParticipantWe have a Saris Porter 2 bike rack. It works well. Able to angle it back to open the hatch on the Xterra, and the ability to put down the arms. Quite solid.

I looked into wunderground mashup earlier; getting general historical data is easy. Getting hourly data (e.g. to actually determine how cold it was during a ride) may be trickier (may have to guess based on trends of coldest hours during the day, etc. … aka, as a quick Google just taught me, use a “diurnal temperature model”.
For wunderground, you have to sign up for their API, and use a key, which theoretically gets you access to their historical data. I tried looking to see if NOAA or the NDCC for this information, but it’s not really easy to get this data. Seems it’s built more towards a consumer click on a map and get info, rather than a REST/SOAP architecture.
My big hurdle has been getting haskell and its associated libraries installed on my servers. I’ll probably just throw up an EC2 instance and run it from there, since I’ve got some chef recipes for haskell versus my home vm server.

Coldest ride. Would need to mash up strava & wunderground somehow.
Weekender: Person with the highest ratio of weekend miles to weekday miles. Some sort of award for those who don’t/can’t commute or ride during the week.
Nooner: Most rides during lunch hours (11am-2pm) during a weekday.
…
Midnight Madness…the most rides done between midnight and 2 amWorking on the datamining for these.

When I orignially suggested this back in November I was thinking about how many miles I wanted to do this year, then how much collectively we would all do together. I had no idea that we would be 28,000+ miles in one month. That’s amazing, I mean we could probably sell carbon credits for this.
I like how you’re thinking with this one. Environmentally sound process, and revenue generation as well.

Participant191 miles in January. That’s up from 0 last year. Heck I didn’t even own a bike this time last year. I would have laughed heartily in your face if you told me on Feb 1, 2012 that in January of 2013 I would have ridden that much in a single month in Winter.
Thanks Freezing Saddles!

ParticipantWe had a drunk driver take out one of our redundant power and network paths at my previous company. That telephone pole had it coming!

ParticipantGuess we’ll need to coordinate:
If you want to ride with your friends and family, stay tuned for an e-mail containing important instructions. Linking your friends and family ensures that you are assigned to the same start time on Tour day and makes packet pickup faster and easier!PeteD

ParticipantWas able to find weights on at least the Supersix and the CAAD10s on Cannondale’s site.
I do agree though, it’s very difficult to find anything, even press reviews, with actual bike weights on anything.Guy: I did see someone yesterday out with a triple tandem, steered by the father on the back with his two children pedaling in front.
