I don’t mind being honest, Ann and Liz, she earned that drink!

And, with a nod to PotomacCyclist’s safety concerns about riding fast on the MVT, our passes were safe (easing up where appropriate, giving warning, etc).

Anyone interested in intervals at Hains Point tonight around 4:15 or so?

The last time I tried to keep up with you and Mark on my steel fixie…

Can I just say how immensely bummed I was that they did not give chase either?
Really sorry I was not able to ride with you yesterday, Consularrider. Had to beat feet home.
Also sorry for not writing back on your earlier sighting post. I’ve been a bit off for the last couple of weeks. Will have to post the backstory and some photos. Let’s just say there are nasty gremlins on the W&OD before 0500.
Now who are you people, what am I doing here, and why did I leave a black bra lying on the MVT this morning?

It’s not so much pushing the right gear that I would worry about as trying to get out of your pedal retention if you’re doing it brakeless and have to stop. If you stop on that hill you’re going straight backwards.

    Incentive, no?

I’ve done it and the nasty little path linking to the neighborhood on Thing 1 (my Surly Steamroller fixed at 46×17).
It’s the path at the end with that little turn that makes it so special. Otherwise, I don’t remember it being worse than Walter Reed up from 4 Mile Run.
    Maybe I’m just suppressing it…

Both chambers are working on this legislation.

My two cents—contact your Senators. The Senate hasn’t marked it up yet.

    Spot confirmed.
This is the second time you’ve seen me on that stretch without me seeing you. You must not have been wearing enough pink.
Can I ride sorta towards home now?

I was riding quickly because I was so embarassed by the very dirty state of the black fixie.
Must have been on my way back from the farmer’s market. Hope I called my pass…

I found the easiest way of ensuring a quick easy swap on the cx rig was to have two of the same wheelset, cassette and all. Only takes a moment to check where the brake pads hit when you are switching the wheels.

Wasn’t me. But the bike is pretty clean this morning. I may even wipe it down again during lunch.
We’re about due to run into each other again out on the trails.

It was lovely morning for a walk, though…
Been there, done that, and am still thankful to the other cyclist who let me skitch a ride part of the way in.
Funny how the tool kit expands one experience at a time.

Honestly, if you ride well, you don’t don’t have to ride your brakes.
The only reason my fixies have front brakes is for emergencies…or for whenever I’m just too tired/lazy to fight the pedals anymore.
I like your Cinelli. Nice and subtle.

Glad Mr. Flintstone fixed his brakes. Wouldn’t want someone careening into me or anyone else because of simple neglect.

Wind from the west between 18 and 21 mph with 36 mph gusts…sounds like perfect weather to extend the end-of-week commute up the towpath to Great Falls and back.
