THANKS for this recommendation. I’m getting ready for the Climate Ride – 5 days of riding, a couple days of camping, and very little space for items like a large cotton towel. I am heading to REI tomorrow and will be purchasing said towel.
If you are an REI member, wait until Friday when you can use your 20% coupon. Or, use the coupon to buy something else there that you covet but haven’t yet found an excuse to buy for full price.

ParticipantOnly wearing gear for a single commuting day between washes, letting your gear dry thoroughly, and using products such as Penguin Sport Wash certainly helps, but bleach is about the only thing that really, truly tackles the smell of older gear.
Of course, you could always look on the bright side—hanging your gear in your office is like marking your territory—helps keep down the number of visitors.OneEighth
ParticipantAny class offered to younger kids would clearly need to be tailored to their attention and skill level. No argument there.
My concern is not so much for those kids whose parents are competent cyclists but for those whose parents are a bit rusty.OneEighth
ParticipantI took a very quick look at the WABA site and got the feeling there is a rather big gap between the instruction offered in the bike rodeos and the confident city cycling class.
Why not offer this level of instruction (CCC) to kids who are not old enough to drive and are, therefore, more likely to benefit from it? Have a parent or guardian sign the waiver and participate as well if that helps.OneEighth

ParticipantActually, MCL1981 has hit on something. Want to impact behavior? Impact the bottom line.
If you believe that the reporting or the handling of the comment section are not acceptable, go after the advertisers. If enough advertisers decide they would rather not be associated with a particular behavior/message/image, you will see change. Right quick, too.
Hope you all have a great ride home.OneEighth

ParticipantI wear a suit every day at work. Provided that the bag is big enough and protects against the elements, the real trick to getting your suit to work in decent shape is how you pack it. Your shirt choice can also make a difference to appearance after it has been carried in a pack.
Shoes, belts, and overcoat stay at work.
My suit, shirt, tie, etc get gently rolled and put in the bag (in my case a Timbuk2 Swig backpack). Actually, I put the whole schmeer into a separate bag first to protect it from my lunch.
As for shirts—if your collar and cuffs (pocket if you have one) look flat, the shirt will look fine under your suit jacket. Over the years, I found that French cuffs stay flat and smooth much longer than single button.OneEighth
ParticipantI noticed this yesterday on the way in. Got me thinking about return on investment and how agencies make decisions about how to expend taxpayer dollars…especially right now. Wonder if anyone took a look at what it costs to put the sign there and maintain it there and compared that to the public safety gain versus putting it somewhere else for another purpose.
Worrying about cyclists at Hains Point in particular would seem to be very, very low priority work.
Almost tempted to do a FOIA to get at how they reached the decision that this was a good use of taxpayer dollars.OneEighth
ParticipantOh man! It’s one thing to imply that I’m dainty, but to call the bike dainty…

ParticipantBecause DC gets revenue from the vendors. There have been vendors there messing up evening rush hour since long before there was a cycle track on 15th.

ParticipantHills are your friend. Except when they’re not.
And, yes, I do actually have something useful to add. I’ve found that bibs are like every other article of clothing in that different manufacturers have different theories on how people are shaped. So, try things on and see whose theory fits you best.
My other bit of advice you probably already know (think back to my comment at the end of happy hour) and applies to any bike shorts or rowing trou.OneEighth
ParticipantIt’s okay coming from a big guy in pink.
