ParticipantThe newly paved segment made for sweet riding yesterday evening. I just REALLY hope they also fix the nasty area near Washington Blvd. Blind corners on a hill with bumps a couple of inches high is an accident waiting to happen.

ParticipantOkay, so I know I saw Dana the other morning on 4MRT, but was that Consularrider this morning heading south on the MVT in a red jersey just North of the split to 4MRT? I had company who was keeping me focused on my pace, so pardon me for not saying hi if that was you.

Dear lady dressed like a ballerina riding a CaBi on Independence at 9:30pm last night while texting on your iphone. You keep doing what you doing.
I just want to know what Lady Luck was doing outside VA.

ParticipantIf it is an option, I strongly recommend having your collarbone surgically repaired.
I used Commonwealth Orthopedics and liked them a lot.
Best of luck.OneEighth

I generally just sprint the whole way to and from work. Thus avoiding any issues with passing since I call 100% of my passes with a throaty baritone. Sometimes I imagine that there is a pack of wolves behind me, other times zombies, I try to mix it up.
Trust me…the zombies are chasing you just beyond your peripheral vision…

ParticipantPort and starboard are so confusing when I’m not facing the stern.

ParticipantEverything in the red family is fast. Some of it is fluffy as well.

ParticipantConducted a bit of a scavenger hunt in the garage Sunday morning and ended up putting together a complete fixie for a friend. His very first time ever on a fixed gear. The smile on his face was priceless.

I’m probably one of the few with a bell on every one of my bikes, no matter what kind. I see very few road bikes with bells, you know it adds weight and spoils the aerodynamics.
Just to be clear—I “liked” the bit about adding weight and spoiling the aerodynamics…

ParticipantAll it took was flatting my tubulars back to back a few times for me to kiss the lovely ride goodbye. I kill enough brain cells what with all the WD40, concussions, and whatnot. No need to be sniffing tire cement regularly, too.
Except when I ride with Pete or Tim, I’ve found that $15 Vittorias do just fine. Ride with either of them and you’ll flat for sure on the Vittorias.OneEighth

I’m a big fan of the full head shave combined with mutton chops, a good copstache, or a Vincent Price. I tried growing out a proper mustachio for Cinco de Mustache – but my wife made me shave it off.
+1 for shaving the head just because. I’m threatening to grow something Lemmy Kilmister would be proud of to go with it. Maybe when it gets cooler.

Okay, you just broke my 74-year-old mother’s heart. That is the only kind of bike she has ever ridden. And yes, she is still riding . . .

That’s fantastic!

OneEighth makes it an art form too. I’m gangly and awkward… definitely not that smooth on the bike. He redefines smooth.
Speaking of smooth—this from the guy who talked me into agreeing to ride 200 miles on a fixie.

ParticipantHaving two bikes is a really good idea for several reasons. Should you have a mechanical issue with one, then you’ve still got another bike with which to get to work. And, if your second bike is entirely unlike your first bike (say a fixie, or a cx bike or…a different color?) it helps you avoid the injuries that sometimes come from not varying your workout routines. Keeps things fresh, too, which is very important for deriving the maximum amount of positive mental energy from your ride (which you are sure to bring home and share with the family). Something along those lines.
