See, you can look at that picture and see something other than the ‘Stache or the blinding Mavic Vision jersey.

You’re going to force me to go all Gallic with the Stache, aren’t you?

The cap is from Pace. It’s wool and comes with a soft bill, which is not really a good thing when it gets windy. I had a local tailor insert the plastic bill stiffener from a worn-out Pace cotton cap and now all is well. Personally, I like the mini-visor Pace caps better than the Walz caps because they allow me to get the helmet lower on my brow. That said, I wear my Walz cap whenever I pass on the helmet, ‘cuz it’s nice, too. Everything has its place.

the pictures are too small, even when i click on the link. please post bigger pics!

i’ve only spotted you on thing 1, even noticed when you switched from bullhorns to track drops and we haven’t even met in person yet. your saddle to bar drop on thing 1&2 is insane. sabine would’ve been perfect for the tweed ride.

Having technical problems. May have to re-take the pix. The drop isn’t too bad even when I’m in the drops. The next frame size up would be too long.

    Thing One (48×16):

    Thing Two (48×15):

    Sabine (48×20):

Thing One and Sabine are both Surly Steamrollers (different frame sizes). All three have SRAM Omnium cranksets but with different crankarm lengths.
Thing One is my crap/any conditions bike and sometimes ends up with cx tires.
Thing Two still hasn’t forgiven Dirt for the time he made me ride it through the sprinklers at Hains.
Sabine is my ride-to-the-market/school bike. The rack is from Lane at CETMA. Handlebar, brake/lever, and brown bits from Velo-Orange. Dorky fun.

Nonsense! He needs two – can’t just have one kidney grille.

Mark might know where he could get the missing grill.

Early in the morning (eg, 0430), the walk signal does not come on at that intersection. Having a stop sign there for those times when the light is off makes some sense. Removing the stop signs altogether and instead having pedestrian signals automatically come on with the corresponding traffic signal would make a lot more sense.

I completely understand the hesitation. And, yes, hopping things is very different when your feet won’t stop moving. But, honestly, you’d be amazed at how fast you get used to it. Just don’t start with a nasty big gear and don’t be in a huge hurry.

We now return you to your original programming:

Many thanks to all the early morning riders who have covered their headlights or turned their helmet mounted lights away. I especially appreciate it because I completely understand the hesitation to lose any light this time of year as the suicidal bunnies have been displaced by suicidal ninja runners—those make for a bigger bump.

To the lady on the W&OD who was riding home without switching gears because she wanted to see what it was like to have one gear…
    You rock.
I hope you had a fun and totally successful ride home!

I actually had an actual one-eighth sighting on the MVT by DCA this morning. The fractional man and I rode along DCA until he put the hammer down. Great seeing you! Pre dawn so no photos

Glad you called out. I enjoyed riding with you for a bit this morning. Sorry I had to beat feet. Think I was faster today because the chops came off after trick-or-treating.
