If you’re new to the forums, you can get your required first post here, so you don’t need to open up a new thread. If you’re not new, still feel free to let people know a bit about you (if you’d like).
that was a very nice way of saying OK ENOUGH ALREADY STOP CLOGGING THE FORUM WITH NEW “I’M NEW HERE THREADS!” — Josh’s Anger Translator

A system so complicated that various smart peoples come to different numerical conclusions. Only around DC could this be. Glad I’m just here to ride my biek.
Don’t lose hope. I’m sure we can over-complicate this quite a bit more.

People can determine how they want to distribute their riding based on whatever life constraints and desires they have. They can choose if they want to engage in the side bets and pointless prizes or not, and if they want to do social things or not. Personally, I’ll probably aim for a healthy balance across all of these.
If so, maybe you can settle the debate about how much coffee qualifies as a “healthy balance.” Somewhere between 1 and 13 cups a day?

It will be interesting to see how the scoring change shakes things up.
I can’t be alone in saying that, despite having read the previous 14 pages over the past two weeks, I’m a little confused. Did the Freezing Cabal decree a new scoring system, or are we still talking about hypothetical scoring changes?
If the latter, +1 meaningless vote for Subby’s idea.

ParticipantMy point is both home location and work location matter. But, more importantly, asking “Would you rather be on a team with folks who live near you or work near you?” allows riders to ID whether they are more likely to be able to join a team gathering near work or near home. It also would allow for much more granular filtering of players into teams than superregional categories.

ParticipantRather than asking whether people want to be on a Maryland team, or DC, or Virginia, what if the registration form just asked “Where do you live?” and “Where do you work?,” and “Would you rather be on a team with folks who live near you or work near you?” The more localized the better. Despite riding 150-200 miles a week during the winter, my ONLY interest in FS is meeting new folks, and that is terribly unlikely if we aren’t all commuting to or from the same area.

I like Subby’s idea he tossed out earlier this year — individual leaderboard is based solely on miles ridden (no cap), team leaderboard is based solely on days ridden (at least 1 mile). I’m indifferent to the size of teams, but I like local teams (although they’re more of a pain to set up). Alternatively, we could select captains from a volunteer pool, and have them draft players (this is cycling, drafting is important right?).
I’m indifferent to all of Subby’s ideas, but I love the idea of drafting players. But ONLY if feelings get hurt.

I did the grande loco and the epic and my main recommendation would be to not do that? Or do it but don’t be fugging dumbass and use road pedals. And if you use road pedals, don’t have them ratcheted down so high that you cannot unclip as you slide into a ravine (theoretically). Also don’t use road pedals just because they happens to also be tiny power meters bc no one gives a shit about your power and the most you are going to do with that number is look down and see it and go “hmmm that’s interesting” and then you will ride through bb-deep creeks and short them out anyway.
I like this. You should start a blog and do ride reports. You would have at least three readers (me, sjclaeys, and old_swole_soul).

ParticipantDoes anyone know if the crane work is still blocking the Rock Creek connection between the Lincoln Memorial and Water St in Georgetown?
