    hope you are okay.

I rode in (25 mi) from Fairfax back in February, and forgot my water bottle. Even though the temps were in the 40s, I was very sluggish and thirsty when I got to work. I usually take 2 bottles, and drink a large glass right before headding out.

For the record, I’m all for healthy competition from The Arlington Bees or Cees (where are the cees, by the way?). But will do my best for the A’s.

I also noticed I am five places behind Gary Fisher in the individual standings. THE Gary Fisher. How cool is that?

I don’t know how he is putting up miles since I have his bike.

    ;)

The Arlington B team is rising! Pretty soon we will pass the A-team.

Once when pulling 2 kids in our Chariot trailer, I shouted, “Passing; wide-load!”

You should have seen the look on the rather large woman pedestrian that we passed. I quickly said, “oh, sorry I meant me, not you.” That didn’t really help. Now I just use my bell.

Worst section (heading East Bound) is just after the Fork at Ballston (where the nice new pavement ends) to Glebe Road. The first downhill section here is really rutted.

Second worst section, the 1/10 mile before (heading East bound again) the Lee highway overpass and S-curves.

Third section, last turn of the s-curves leading down to the shopping center.

I was lucky enough to have a conference down at National Harbor today, so I got to see the flyover while biking down M street, going across the 14th street bridge and riding along the MVT at gravelly point. It was great to see so many people out on bikes.

Nice ride from DC down to Nat Harbor, although I wasn’t expecting the crushed shell path at the end.

Today’s bit of motivation. While riding down the W&OD in Falls Church, I was thinking,

“I do not wish to be associated with a bike that does not go fast, for I intend to pedal into harms way!”

Guess I had my sea-legs on.

Ann, Thanks again for a great party. My wife and 3 kids had a blast. Thanks again to Bike Arlington for the munchies. I had a nice time putting faces and names to usernames. Usually when I ride East on the Custis in the morning I see all of the people struggling with the hills and think, “Suckers, I’m flying downhill, weeeeee. But today pulling my 6 and 5 year old in the Chariot, and my wife pedaling with our 2 year old (turns 3 tomorrow) up those hills I looked over at the people flying down the hills and thought, Suckers, the beer and wings are in my direction, you are just flyind away from them, okay, more for me!

I’ll be leaving around 4:15 from the Navy Yard and riding the MVT and Custis to the Giant Foods (just east of the S-Curves). At around 5 I will be meeting up with my wife and attaching the double Chariot with two of my boys inside. My wife will pull the third in a bike seat and we will attempt to lug 140 lbs of children up the hills of the Custis. Feel free to pass us along the way. That beer will taste so good when we finally get there.

I think I’ve convinced my wife to bike in from near Falls Church pulling our 3 kids in tow. See you there!
