No one plans to ride on ice – but cold mornings after a warm day happen all the time ;) Kenda 1014 studded – cheap enough to keep around on the spare wheelset for refreeze days.

Now if you happen to be a Capitol Bikeshare Field Mechanic and want to service bikes at both of those stations you can ride around the zoo instead of through it and get more miles! Yay!

The warm and fuzzy feeling of being thought of :D

Talking of Holmes Run right next to Dora Kelly – have they removed the giant snags across the downcreek portion of trail? Rode through there just after dark and almost got brained.

Um, there are some of us who can’t ride a bike hands-free even on a perfect day! My balance has always been terrible, and got worse with age. LOL

There are elements of bike design that can help with that (like by lowering wheel flop). I don’t say ‘fix’, of course, but help.

My beater MTB has super-long chainstays which helps with rear-end wobble on flats but *kills* me when trying to climb anything that can slip out. I simply can’t do #4 far back enough.

On today’s list of Weird FS2022 Things – anyone else recently switch from having rides be private to sharing and now having leaderboards not update properly?

Now imagine getting a hot heel while outdoors and scrambling in your bag to find the remote because the very last thing you want to do is take the overbooties and shoes off and insoles out just to push the manual reset button – which is right next to the charge port.

I couldn’t even get a positive response to “could the snow plows maybe put the giant block of ice just to the side of the curb cut, instead of directly on top of it”. They really don’t think their job is anything other than moving cars around as fast as possible.

I suspect suing is hard, because the ice will melt long before your court date.

I’m really surprised we don’t have wheelchair users suing already.

Anyone notice that the set back sidewalk ramps are actually better for staying clear of snow than the ones directly in line with the sidewalk?

The US Needs to Do Better for Bikes

If the government is serious about solving climate change, it needs to treat bikes like car replacements and not toys.

I kind of read that article as stating that e-bikes are specifically *not* car replacements – note points such as:

Electric cars—while great!—don’t help create safe, walkable, and attractive neighborhoods.

What if the entire concept of suburbs was the real problem?
