ParticipantFortunately the guys with machine guns will most likely thwart that type of vagrant activity.

I don’t understand why the property manangers don’t let bike in the building. Is it a liability issue?
I’m consider myself very lucky that my office has lockers, showers, and indoor bike storage. It’s a reason that I don’t find another job.
If you look for another job, the indoor bike storage is one of the requirements.
They typically don’t want the sight of people walking bikes around the office because it doesn’t look professional. They also don’t like dirt, water, mud, etc making a mess of their buildings. The slobs ruined it for others. I too am blessed with a VERY VERY VERY secure parking garage to park my bike when I start doing the commuter thing. As well as showers and a locker room, as old and 80’s era as it is.

You’ve been doing it for a while and haven’t had a problem. You can pretend that you didn’t get the memo and keep on going. Change your behavior when you are forced to.
This is how I handle many aspects of many employment positions I’ve held. Both bike related and not. If you’ve been doing it all along and nobody has bothered you, keep doing it. They probably have an issue with people who make a mess. If you’re quiet and discreet, they will probably not even notice let alone care.

ParticipantAn arrival date to Washington DC has been determined! Adam and Christy will be here the third week of April. I’m looking for a bike shop willing to host a meet and greet, presentation, and maybe kick off an evening group ride on WEDNESDAY 4/13. Please if anyone owns or has contacts at the Washington DC area bike shops, spread the word.

ParticipantI typically don’t announce or signal if I’m on the Cap or C&O, however I’m also only passing with very wide berths. If It is going to be tight, I usually don’t pass at all or will say something first. This is what I do, because that’s what I’ve found everyone else does. I have never ridden the street bike lanes before so I can’t speak for them.

You would also not believe how many hangers of clothes you can fit on a hook on the back of your office door. There are dry cleaners all over downtown so for me, some items just live in the office rather than my home.
This would require promotion to a position with an office and a door. Wouldn’t that be nice. I do however have an unlimited supply of cubical hooks…..

ParticipantI never thought of rolling cloths up rather than folding them, and frankly I suck at folding clothing to begin with. Though I’m having a hard time pictuing how to roll up a shirt without making a mess of it. I think I’m going to get a pannier setup though as a backpack would be way too hot in the summer.
I believe then my next purchase after a pannier bag will be go-go-gadget spike strips and nail launchers for cars.
