A compliment of course. I’m informed that I’m insane all the time so it’s cool.

I’m glad your friend decided trying to cross this was a bad idea. That will take your ass down.

Sure plowing will never be 100% perfect for 100% of the trail. But a 1/4″ of packed snow will melt a lot faster than 4″ of fluff. And at least those with snow tires and the walkers can use it while it is packed snow in parts. If they really wanted to impress their “customers”, they could spray down the liquid anti-ice treatment before a predicted storm. No harm to the plant life and largely prevents the packed snow and ice situation.

Seriously, If I had a house that backed up to any of these trails, I would totally be out there in the middle of the storm with a snow plow on a lawn mower. I’m like the D&D commercial where the snow plow drivers are chasing the one lone snowflake.

I’ll have to add a button to my control panel to deploy CO2 pontoons.

I think they mean snowblower, not a leaf blower. Probably tractor mounted? This seems stupid if that is what they bought. This is not Caribou Maine. A snowblower is SLOW even when mounted to a tractor. It would take forever to clear those trails with a tractor mounted snowblower and it would leave crap on the train since they don’t scrape. They’re not designed for that. If they’re serious about snow removal on the trails, they should have a 5-6ft plow on a tractor or a gator type ag vehicle. They can cruise down the trail at 15-20mph when there is nobody on it and have it down to pavement in no time. If owned on, I would do it myself for free. It’s fun!

I’m glad you’re pursuing this. But your councilman is not in the chain of command at the police department. Frankly I think leaving any of this to a politician in the district is asking for a whole lot of nothing.

That is a hurdle in CIVIL court when it comes to suing the woman who assaulted her with a car. Though I don’t see how based on this description of the incident, she could be found even 1% at fault for this crazy woman’s violent assault. Contributory negligence does NOT apply to criminal and motor vehicle law when she gets arrested for the multiple crimes she committed (reckless driving, aggravated assault, etc).

Reckless driving should be the least of her worries. However it may please you to know that in DC, a reckless driving conviction where that reckless driving caused injury is a mandatory 6 month license suspension. But really, its the jail time for either of the below additional criminal charges this psycho should be really concerned with. Not sure if they are felony charges or not. I hope so.

District of Columbia Official Code 2001 Edition
Division IV. Criminal Law and Procedure and Prisoners.
Title 22. Criminal Offenses and Penalties.

    § 22-404.01. Aggravated assault.

    (a) A person commits the offense of aggravated assault if:

    (1) By any means, that person knowingly or purposely causes serious bodily injury to another person; or

    (2) Under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to human life, that person intentionally or knowingly engages in conduct which creates a grave risk of serious bodily injury to another person, and thereby causes serious bodily injury.

    (b) Any person convicted of aggravated assault shall be fined not more than $10,000 or be imprisoned for not more than 10 years, or both.

§ 22-402. Assault with intent to commit mayhem or with dangerous weapon.

Every person convicted of an assault with intent to commit mayhem, or of an assault with a dangerous weapon, shall be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than 10 years.

You can not let this go. Based on your description, what that woman did is a felony in some states. Hell, ramming a bicycle with a 4000lb car is borderline attempted vehicular homicide. You absolutely need to take this up the chain of command in the police department. One lazy police officer does not change the law for his convenience and it happened whether he feels like doing his job or not. If he won’t do his job, someone else will have to, but that won’t happen unless you stand up for yourself in the matter. Also, I’m not a huge fan of suing everyone and everything, but this bitch needs the book thrown at her. In addition to motor vehicle and criminal charges she will have coming, she needs to be held personally responsible for your ongoing hospitalization and loss of wages. I’d highly suggest contacting that attorney listed above as I have never seen a more slam dunk case in my life. He can probably also help with reminding the police that it is their job to arrest criminals. And that psycho is one.

While I was out on the CCT last night, this whole arrangement stopped 4 lanes of traffic on the Little Falls Parkway crossing. I was pleased

Those are these really neat reflective stickers that go on the spokes. They are a huge side visibility add-on. I forget the name but I see them at most local bike shops. You get a package with enough to put one on every spoke of both wheels plus some others to stick around the bike. I never realized how cool they looked until I saw them with the camera light reflecting off them.

To your point on the dim trail lights, I think the flashing is more effective during the day when the light needs to contrast with daylight, but at night I think you’re right. We don’t need to grab attention at night on the trail, we just need to show up. It’s dark. Anything will show up. Flashing is probably more distracting than it needs to be. I will have to work a flash/steady mode into the lighting.

Exactly. That’s why I still have an old inferior LED blinker on the handlebar and on the back for now. I consider them necessary day or night on the trails. During the day, it is just because there are a lot of people and not all of them are very attentive. At night, well it’s dark.

I have a piece of black tape over the very top of the headlight lens to cut-off the top portion of the beam. This makes it so the headlight isn’t vaporizing the retinas of oncoming bikers and joggers. I’m still experimenting with positioning this but it’s pretty good so far. It stood about 50ft in front of the bike and it was bright but not blinding.
