Hi all, I am relatively new to the area, and brand new to this forum! I moved from NYC to Rockville in June – NYC is the micromobility capital of the country – Mostly e-bikes of delivery guys, but plenty of other people who get around on 1 and 2 wheeled e-bikes, scooters, and micromobility.

In NYC, I used CitiBike because I was worried about bike theft, and didn’t have the space in my apt to own my own bike and keep it inside. But when I moved here, I bought the Lectric XP 3.0, which is UL2849 certified. I use it daily for my commute, plus errands, and the occassional leisure ride. Other than a wisdom tooth surgery at the end of June, and a broken foot for the whole month of September (unrelated to e-biking), I have regular gone 100+ miles a week, and my odometer passed 2300miles today.

A lot of people think e-bikes are cheating, but I reject that notion. Numerous studies show that e-bike riders get more exercise on average than regular cyclists because they bike more often, and for longer distances. In my case, I commute 15 miles roundtrip daily, and wouldn’t be able to do this on a regular bike in an efficient amount of time, especially with the amount of stuff I normally haul. If I wasn’t on my e-bike, I’d be driving a car, and contributing to climate change.

E-bikes (and even adult trikes) make cycling more accessible to on the fence riders who don’t feel comfortable or have the physical ability to exert themselves as may be needed on a steeper hill or longer ride.

Beyond that, e-bikes are simply SO MUCH FUN!
