Don’t know why you’re saying that here.

It’s like a Law of the Internet or something. If someone mentions cyclists and safety, someone else must – within three replies – point out that cyclists are scofflaws who don’t stop for lights or signs. If that doesn’t happen, then . . . well, I’m not sure. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a discussion where that doesn’t happen.

Brendan, I *really* hope you got the car number on that one. Would be great to have a follow up conversation with the driver, no?

The top of Upton St. is ~405 feet. If you’re climbing Upton from the north (say, Vacation Lane), that’s about a 15% grade, I think. I’m certain that there are at least three other people on this thread with the data to correct me, if I’m wrong :)

Hi, Biker – did you ever have any luck in finding ideas/others to ride with?

I just wanted to post a quick note of thanks – especially to the new faces – that came out and helped support making Arlington a better place for cyclists.

For ideas of the range of prices and options out there, check out http://bikesfortherestofus.blogspot.com/. (I love that site, and try to spread it around as much as possible.)

I like panniers for most loads – books, groceries, etc. But a laptop always ends up on my back. More vibration/shock dampening.

I used to be a Roosevelt Bridger, back in my GW days. Our numbers were much much smaller, then. Now I’m a Memorial Bridger, and probably not even that. I work in Arlington now, but head out across Memorial for the Hains Point fun at lunch 3-4 times a week in season.

Roosevelt – very practical, very transit oriented. In at 8:30, out at 6p.

Memorial – either on his/her way somewhere fast, or an early departing .gov’er.

Hi, Barry – I noticed that last week, and reported it to trails@arlingtonva.us. Dominion Power has been made aware of it, and if you get a chance to roll through there in the dayilght, you’ll see that they’ve been digging up a fair bit of it (presumably to find/fix the cause).
