    Hey Everyone,

Phoenix Bikes is holding our 3rd Annual Bike Show fundraiser on April 8, 2010 and we’d like to invite all of you to attend. It will be a night to remember with good food, good drink, and a good time had by all.

Some Highlights of the upcoming show:

    Speakers

Special guests at the show will include: Our very own Chris Eatough.

Eric Gilliland, outgoing Washington Area Bicycle Association Executive Director and newly appointed Executive Director of the National Association of City Transportation Officials.

Jay Fisette, Chairman of the Arlington County Board and passionate cycling supporter. Jay will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the show.

    Swag

A silent auction will be held for items donated by organizations throughout the Metro Area. Some items up for auction include: a R.E.Load Bag, jackets from Patagonia, Swobo cycling apparel, free admission to Madame Toussands, One-year free membership at Arlington County fitness centers, a family package bike tour of Mount Vernon from Bike and Roll, and dozens of gift certificates from local and national companies. And we still have more stuff coming in!

Additionally, buying tickets to the show will enter you in a raffle to win one of four new commuter bikes, one built by youth mechanics at Phoenix Bikes.

Local Art Inspired By Extraordinary Rides

Each year, Phoenix Bikes chooses a bike-related theme as the focus of our celebration. This year the show will highlight “Extraordinary Rides” experienced by riders from the DC Metropolitan area. We asked the Metro area community for stories about their most extraordinary rides and we chose seven of the most interesting rides to feature at our show.

In one featured ride a cyclist biked across Southern Sudan to help treat the crippling effects caused by the Guinea worm. In another, three women biked from DC to Montreal to learn about community gardens and to make a documentary film on the issue. As part of the event, local artists will display artwork inspired by these and other Extraordinary Rides.

In addition to the seven featured rides, every ride submitted will have a display at the event. If you have an extraordinary ride you’d like displayed at the show it’s not too late! Simply submit your story and information at http://www.phoenixbikes.org/node/add/nomination-ride
We will continue to accept entries until March 31, 2010.

So please come and make sure to buy your tickets early!
