ParticipantYeah I’m too stupid to fix it myself, and thanks for all the work you’ve done over the years Carol. I had some more constructive criticism but went with the shorthand because I know nobody gives a shit.

ParticipantI didnt ride my bike there yet so I’ll steal no valor but if you’re ever in the area check out yunnan by potomac in Old Town https://www.yunnanbypotomac.com/
I’ve had several different things there now and theyve all been great. They make these thick billowy noodles that are sooooo pleasant to bite into and theres a bunch of interesting sounding things on the menu.LeprosyStudyGroup

Chinese New Year is coming up, which sounds to me like a perfect excuse to check out the new Asian food hall (The Block) in north Bethesda.
When: Sunday, January 26 at 1:00 p.m.
Starting point: Jefferson Drive entrance to the Freer-Sackler Gallery. The Freer-Sackler is doing its sixth annual Lunar Year celebration from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., so get there early if you want to check out the festivities before the ride.
Route: We’ll ride to The Block, where you’ll be able to score #tacoloco or #slurpyride points if you so choose. (Personally, I’ll be going straight for the matcha Oreo ice cream.) We’ll then circle back and finish at the Kennedy Center’s special display of Winter Lanterns. The route is about 34 miles, with a mix of trails and streets and some hills: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31772102. Social pace, 12-14 mph. If you’d like to do just one leg of the ride, The Block is close to the White Flint metro station.
What to bring: lock, money, Strava, metro card if needed.
I’m confused that you scheduled this ride just after the freezing rain is supposed to end, that is unusual for an official komorebi⢠food oriented freezing saddles group ride.
are you sure you didnt mean to schedule it the day before?LeprosyStudyGroup
ParticipantYEah I’m almost never in College Park but I will have to make that place a destination now.
I recently had one of the worst bowls of Ramen I’ve ever encountered at the Jinya in Mosaic District, it actually made me angry it was so bad and expensive. Would love to have a great bowl of something new to make up for that soon!

ParticipantI guess this is as good a place as any to ask this:
I thought simply joining the FS 2020 strava club was enough to get on the Friends of BAFS slacker table. Do I actually gotta register? Maybe its a nothingburger, apologies if that’s the case.

ParticipantSorry to hear that happened again to your Ramblers Emm. My TCX had ramblers that came with it and they flatted more than a few times so I replaced them at about 3k miles with Donnelly Strada USH tubeless at Birru’s recommendation. I really love these tires. They have much less aggressive tread in the middle section so are better for pavement riding (which we tend to do more of around here right) Ive also put 7K miles on them since then, and I’m probably just lucky but – zero flats – not one.

ParticipantAh thanks for posting that, creadinger confirmed my expectations for what it’s like, and about going up north through the city.

ParticipantI don’t know the area that well either but Franklins brew pub was a decent place to stop and hang out the few times I’ve been through on various rides up there. It’s not far from the ART

Heads up – DCist included the ride in its weekly “5 Ways to Have a Totally Free Weekend” roundup (https://dcist.com/story/19/08/30/5-ways-to-have-a-totally-free-weekend-around-d-c-36/). It notes what was in the original post of “registration encouraged but you can show up day of” so numbers may continue to increase…
lol best of luck you guys. somebody should warn misha’s.

ParticipantOh, just to put it out there ~ On account of my having basically not ridden my bike at all this year, I signed up for and plan to do the short route. I had more fun last year when we did the short route and spent more time eating and drinking because of the (turns out not so) bad weather. Does it still count as a single ride if you spend 5 or 6 hours at the brewery pit stop?
