A bunch of teams appear to have lost one of their team members – – I found seven teams that suddenly only have nine members including our own team nine license to chill which suddenly dropped into seventh Place after being in third place yesterday. Our team member Adriana Has no idea why she was dropped from our team.
And suddenly today I (Ken L) have only ridden one day in Freezing Saddles for a puny 11 points. No wonder Team 11 dropped to 16th.

ParticipantI don’t quite understand why this Arlington County orange striped barrel was at this location, let alone in the middle of the Eads PBL. It got moved.

ParticipantThe one note should read “Left hand reaching out and hitting ground. Broken clavicle miraculously avoided.” I think you should win the London Bridge prize just based on style and documentation.

ParticipantThere is something wrong with this picture. It looks like the Arlington snow clearing crew went nuts and continued from the 4 Mile Run Trail on up the Mt. Vernon Trail. I’ve never before seen this section cleared. I had to turn south to find the snow covered trails I was seeking. The snow ran out at the rail crossing at Canal Center where it looks like the Alexandria snow clearing crews were busy beavers. Thankfully not all the secondary roads in Alexandria have been cleared yet.

It is my honor to introduce everyone to the new local paved path superhero…
I was waiting to see if Boomer made an entry in the London Bridge category as well.

It’s a pretty creepy tunnel which is usually full of nasty water and debris after a rain.
And snakes. Don’t forget the snakes. (for real)

Another gray and gloomy day in Frankfurt and I was too lethargic to get out for much of a ride. Still managed #FS2019OOBcoffeeride #13 stopping at a local Trinkhelle Kiosk in Dornbusch for a coffee-to-go near the end of the ride.

Nah. Don’t bother. It’s too cold out there. Take it easy for a couple weeks before riding again.

ParticipantJudd – The MLK Day of Service MVT event was nicely organized. Kudos to you and komorebi. Give yourself extra KOT points. I also was gobsmacked by the amount of really irritating Styrofoam all over the place. DC banned the stuff 1/1/16. Now we need to get the upriver towns and maybe state of Maryland and commonwealth of Virginia to do likewise. Next time I’m bring a small rake to gather up the small bits.
My fingers were hurting at the end. Should have gone with lobster mitts and 3 hand warmers in each.

ParticipantWhat is the condition of the MVT heading south from the Porto Vecchio condos? Is it reasonable for me to expect clear riding to Belle Haven Park?

Today I learned that car snow shovels will fit inside a Bike Arlington string backpack, so long as you don’t mind the shovel handle periodically clunking into the back of your helmet.
Place the shovel in the backpack so the back of the blade is against your back. That way the handle is angled away from your head. Ask me how I know that.
