ParticipantQuoting the Rosslyn BID History page:
“Fort Myer Drive
A quiet, daytime picture of Fort Myer Drive, also known as “Pork Chop Row.” This neighborhood in Rosslyn was notorious for gambling, drinking, and other vices.”
Who knew I live in such a wretched hive of scum and villainy…

From Ghosts of DC:
“So, the next time you’re heading west out of Rosslyn on Lee Highway, think about how lucky you are that you’re not walking 100 years ago, heading down that hill near Spout Run, near the shopping center. Back then, it might have been your last trip.”(And 2nd photo for locational context. :p)

ParticipantThese Frozémon are bad influences. They keep encouraging me to poke around places I’m not supposed to…

ParticipantI’m beginning to think this whole shutdown thing was a flu-induced fever-dream.

ParticipantHey Sunyata! So this will be my first year playing with Instagram, should I post there and post here?
Also, while I’ve been chronicling my socks in Strava, I haven’t been posting them on IG yet, so I was thinking of doing a January Revue that has all of ’em in one post (with all appropriate tags and descriptions). Would that work? Or do you want individuals?

ParticipantI just went and checked out the ol’ Aqueduct bridge. A bunch of teens taking pictures of graffiti and one Kitty ignoring NPS signage to stay off the bridge, but no Frozemon to be seen. (Also don’t tell Mr. Kitty I was hunting for Frozemon instead of resting…)

ParticipantDespite efforts to erase his legacy for the sake of progress or “beautification” ol’ Dan is still looking down on us…
So I’m really excited about this one, because it was a chance find. With Dan having passed and most of his tags painted over, I didn’t think I’d be able to share one of his. But this afternoon when I went looking for Frozemon along the C&O, I saw all the new-blood graffiti and was thinking about ol’ Dan. As I passed under Key I looked up and saw it! Cool ‘Disco’ Dan lives on!

Uh-oh… I promised I would only sleaze ride tomorrow… I might have to see if that’s close enough to count…
Also dang! I KNEW there’d be one at Chain Bridge! I was going to go look after church, but then things went South. (Hence my being grounded [emoji855])

ParticipantI hope you guys go get ’em! I had an idea for this one, but I’m officially grounded tomorrow aside from my sleaze ride.

Interesting. I wonder what they taste like?
On today, International Penguin Awareness Day, I need to make you aware of the fact that penguins are warm and waterproof in frigid Antarctic waters thanks to a thick layer of blubber and well oiled feathers. So they’d probably taste like a frozen turkey wrapped several layers of insulated Goretek, dunked in salty, gamey, motor oil.
Not worth either the flavor, or being uniformly branded a monster by most civilized peoples (leopard seal fans notwithstanding).

Estimating arrival times for these rides is always a crapshoot, but I’m guessing we’ll be at the start of the CCT around 9:35-9:45, and at Quartermaine around 10:10-10:20. If you’d like, PM me your cell phone number and I’ll text you with an update along the way.
Duly noted on the difficulty of meeting up enroute… That said, is there an estimated ETA for Navy Yard? I may be well enough tomorrow to be social, but not do the full ride.

This has been fun these past days, but how many times can you check the leaderboard without it getting undignified.
And does anyone realize how easy it is to get the word ‘penguins’ into just about any conversation, and then start to explain to the unwitting victim what a primal penguin is.
E.g. today…
Someone said “well that’s a feather in her cap” she will want.
Me: Yes, especially if its a primal penguin feather.
Victim: What?
Me: Oh let me explain. You see there’s this thing called freezing saddles.
Victim: I have to go to lunch.
I for one couldn’t be HAPPIER about this turn of events! ^____^ That’s the spirit!
