I admit, I’d still get out there, but not for much more than the minimum miles needed to get from point A to B and back. I’m having freezing fingers issues. :(

The quality of the prize is spectacular! I fully intend upon defending my win from last year!

I’m so glad to hear it! I always have a lot of fun picking them out from among the offerings at the Spirit Shop near my family’s place, and explaining to them what its for.

A bumper sticker on a van on my commute late last week (spotted just outside the Saudi embassy): Next to a picture of a jogger: “I run better than the government” 😮

Oh! I didn’t realize there might be more than on in an area. Now I’ll be less discouraged by other trainers.

Rules question: do rides to breweries outside of the area count? I have a trip across the other pond next month, and it looks like Tokyo now has a bike share AND a new Hitachino Nest brewery…

According to the rules, 2 hour delayed arrival doesn’t count as a snow day. But rules are meant to be broken. And if this is the only “snow day” we get during Freezing Saddles, maybe Kitty will count it. But regardless, it’s a ride your bike day!

Chuxtr is quite right. I’m gearing up to go to work right now, so it doesn’t count as a “Snow Day” for the purposes of this pointless prize. If we don’t get any true, honest-to-goodness-free-vacation-day closures, the alternate form of winning is miles of Michigan Day (mark your calendars)

Thanks for the direct link to reauthorize! I had been trying to do that through the “login” button and it was a no-go. I seem to be on it now. Now its simply a matter of sitting back and waiting for the site to pull my rides off of the Strava-Sky-Net.

Ha! I’m amused that they accidentally used the HP image twice! (For #2 and #3)

Interesting! I just tried to login to the FS website using Strava and got the message: “Error code: ATHLETE_NOT_FOUND”

I just now popped on and its only showing 223 contestants. I don’t appear on the leaderboard (nor anyone else with the given name “Grace” fwiw). :(

I’ve been on the Strava group, so hopefully this is just a database/caching issue?

I’d also like to say thank you to the multiple forum members who promoted the match on social media yesterday. Several folks went way above and beyond, posting multiple times throughout the day, sharing their stories about biking and WABA, and giving likes to others who donated.

If there’s one thing the Climate Ride taught me, it was the importance the social media hustle. On donation drive day I was with family in Michigan being driven to Detroit for more visiting, trying to orchestrate as much as I could from the back seat of the family Ford. When someone asked what I was doing I said “helping raise $13k for our bike org.” Not a bad way to use time in car captivity.

Thanks Judd, for the update! I’m so glad to hear we hit the $100k goal! Thanks again to you and Komo for getting us involved!

Thanks for the info. As a data wonk, I understand how that would mess with things. If I run into issues, I’ll hit you up Judd for some gpx-fu.

As for the rule itself, Somehow I missed it last year? The sticky straight-up reads: “Manual entries will also not be accepted. This is a change from previous years.” Leading me to believe it was new this year. Without that clause it wouldn’t have seemed like a new thing. (A “the sin is in semantics” situation)

I will not be able to roll out with you guys tonight, but will make an appearance for at least one HP lap after church (appx. 11:30) Because the usual Jan 1 Holy Day falls on a Monday they abrogated the obligation this year, but having a commitment gets me out and into the cold.
